We won't know Snyder's real growth until the 2nd coach after Shanahan. I am hoping that is a LONG time from now.
I say second, because his first will be shaped by the events under Shanahan/Allen, and could be a good choice, but his second will show whether he reverts back to the VC proxy history, or that he has really learned from this last decade. If he has really learned, and he becomes a great owner of a great franchise, than this first 10 years will soon become a speck in Skins history.

The best thing I can take from all of this is Snyder's attitude change. If Allen/Shanahan fail, at least Snyder will know how a proper front office should operate.
Think about what you said. If they fail why would he think thats the way a front office should be run. We kind of said the same thing about Gibbs II.

Let's temper the excitement and be cautiously optimistic about the upcoming season.

If they don't win right away I'll not be pissed. 8-8 will be acceptable to me next season, as long as we keep improving and actually stand a chance of winning every single game we're in.

Positive vibes about the Redskins are always welcome, especially after being ridiculed (and rightfully so) for such a long time. It creates a much different perception when you employ people who know and understand the game of football.

Everyone plays nice...it's the honeymoon phase. When Shanahan doesn't perform I'm guessing the dream will come to an end.
I agree. I think we need to be optimistic, but just because Vinny is gone and Allen is GM doesn't mean squat. Too many questions need to be answered all around to get overly excited. What has Shanny won post Elway? Even post Elway, he had more solid weapons in Denver to work with, including a rather green Portis, than he has here. I think it is still a 50/50 proposition that these guys build something. As for the so called change in direction? Our draft was rather lackluster to say the least minus the McNabb acquisition. This team is still heavily relying on free agency, although we will never see ridiculous sums being paid to future free agents again thank goodness. The only change I see thus far is exactly that, no more huge ass contracts. It is nice we got McNabb, but really do you think he is going to win a SB? Before we got him, many in here were calling him McChoke, etc. Don't get me wrong I like Donovan alot and I didn't think he was McChoke in Philly, but our WR corp minus Santana is very suspect. Donovan might be able to get them to improve their game, but they also can bring Donovan down also if they don't step it up.

I will say this though, for the first time in like 5-6 years we are not predicted to be the cellar dwellers in the NFC East in a majority of the preseason rags out now. 8-8 seems to be the consensus prediction. THere is reason for optimism. I won't drink the Kool Aid just yet though. Spurrier cured me of that!!!!!

The culture within Redskin Park at the administrative level is more structured than it had been the past couple of years, hopefully that translates to on-field success
