havent been in dc in awhile, they have these big kiosk like stands that sell fireworks.

do they still have those in dc? as a kid i would take the bus home and watch undercover cops pull cars over just as they pass the DC MD line. always wondered how they coordinated that.

coolest thing i ever found on a DC bus? a huge box probably 4 feet high full of old old baseball cards and some football cards. they were bent and frayed to crap so they were worthless.

False! Black bear

False! Black bear

That's debatable

Got the weekend started early this evening. BBQ over at my Mom's. My stepdad hooked up some mean burgers on the grill. I had two with jalepenos and cheddar, along with fresh corn on the cob and pasta salad, and some ice cold beer. Perfect day today in DC, too. Good stuff.

Need to get a new grill, mine just broke a week ago, so pissed. Didn't plan on cooking out anyways. Probably just going to take it easy Saturday and then go to D.C for the fireworks.

Lived here my entire life and have never gone to see them in person. Well there was one time I parked on 50 to watch them, but I'm talking like down on the mall, going to do that this year.

Going to take the HD camcorder and hopefully get some good video.

did it pop a hole and won't hold the coals anymore? ;)

Exactly. I'll be by the grill with some beers, passing out the burgers. The dudes will gravitate towards me, the ladies will gravitate towards the kids and pinch their cheeks. These things inevitably turn into 6th grade dances. Guys on one side, girls on the other.

Nice.

that's my usual role, typically less kids involved though

Oh man. I can't believe you've never seen them live. It's so awesome. Being at the foot of the Washington Monument with those fireworks going off overhead... gives me chills.

Neither my wife nor her twin sister who will be in town this weekend have ever seen them live in DC. It's gonna be awesome to see their reaction.

I never have either. My family never did much of anything and living in southern VA there was usually even less to do. Though from our nearly annual visit to SC we'd buy a ton of fireworks and wait almost a year to set them off for the 4th.

Since being back up here I was always working too much to venture into DC for the show. One of these years I'll make it.
