i always said letting him go to sign Trotter was a horrible horrible move. He was one of those true Redskins, that would do anything and was an incredible MLB, a leader, and a coach on the field. I would like to see him get involved with an NFL team as a coach. He is extremely smart and willing to put in the hours to be successful.

great job AP

It didn't happen that way. AP's last season here was in 2004, Lemar Marshall took over at MLB in 2005. Trotter was already back in Philly in 2004.

Didn't GW say he didn't need him or something like that. Wasn't there a Michael Barrow sighting in a redskins uni somewhere in this time frame too. I was so distraught over the last say 10 years my memory sometimes fails me. Regardless, my point was letting AP walk was NOT a good move and it took a few years to finally get a capable MLB in the burgandy and gold.

The Skins tried to re-sign him, GW wanted him back but the Giants offered up more up front money in their deal.

Marshall filled in quite well in 2005 but fell off in 2006, enter Fletcher in 2007.

My son, the Giants fan, has one jersey, AP's, (well he may have Eli's:() because he was a Skin and a Giant. I liked him and wished we had kept him.

Good luck AP

when did the michael Barrow project blow up in our face? Wasn't that somewhere when AP left?? I thought I remembered going crazy about signing him because he was like 34 or 35 or something. I could be wrong, but I remember he was extremely durable during his time in NY then was always hurt and never really played a down with us.

Didn't he leave because the Giants offered him $300,000 more in the first year than the Skins did. That off season that he and Smoot left I was very bitter.

Heck of a career for an UDFA.

X2. Great find by Marty. Still pissed he left for NY but he got a ring and got $. Good for AP that he is going to ESPN.

Yeah Barrow was signed in 2004. He was a rock up until that year and was coming off a big season for NY.

Same here. Lavar, I didn't mind going to NJ, but I had always wished we kept Pierce.

I always thought Pierce thought he was a much better MLB than he was. I never really liked the guy. Once he came up as a FA, I didn't think he deserved anywhere near the contract he got.

He was a very good player to me, never great, and there was just a little bit too much bark from that guy.

In any case, he did have a nice career and got a ring, so congrats to him. I do feel bad that the neck issue is what's causing his career to be cut short, that and the apparent lack of interest in him.
