Justin Tryon says playing for Colts is 'night and day' difference from Redskins

The Redskins aren't in the playoffs, but several former Washington players and coaches still have football games to worry about. ...And perhaps one of the most surprising: the Indianapolis Colts starting cornerback Justin Tryon.

Speaking Wednesday from the Colts locker room in Indianapolis, Tryon said getting traded from the Redskins was a big opportunity, and he's taken full advantage of his time with a new team.

"The crossover was wonderful," Tryon said. "It's a huge blessing."

....He was traded following training camp to Indianapolis, where he's become a key contributer down the stretch. The Colts' Jerraud Powers was placed on injured reserve last month and Kelvin Hayden suffered a neck injury. So Tryon started the Colts' final four games of the regular season and if Hayden can't go this weekend against the New York Jets -- Hayden hasn't practiced this week -- Tryon will get the call.

...Tryon expected to be a special teams contributer in Indianapolis but was in the Colts' starting lineup in Week 1.

...And he still talks to Redskins Hall of Famer Darrell Green every other week or so and seeks guidance, he said.

Something to think about as we look at Rogers potentially leaving and our depth at CB. Maybe Darrell Green was actually right...

While some will interpret his comments in the most cynical fashion, Tryon was pretty classy, with him crediting the CBs on the roster and Darrell Green for helping him during his time here.

It looks like he's got the same role in Indy that he had here -- a nickel corner who occasionally steps in if someone goes down. They can have him.

Would you prefer to have Buchanon, Barnes and a 5th or 6th round pick or Buchanon, Barnes and Tryon? I like Tryon but he's a bit too inconsistent for my tastes so I'll take the former

They never should have traded him. I would much rather have them kept him than Buchanon.
