KLHJ2 07-23-2010, 07:14 AM Speaking of China. I heard on the Golf Channel that if you can get your hands on some real estate over there to build a Golf Course then you can make a killing. Apparrently Golf is just now starting to explode in India and China. To Solid Snake: The world is not comming to an end...your sanity is. Go play some more Metal Gear and come back with a good La le lu li lo conspiracy. JoeRedskin 07-23-2010, 08:50 AM Now China, not to be outdone by the US, has their own oil spill. Is this all just coincidence? Perhaps the ChiComs and BP bought stock in seafood? What Sayeth the Mob? Large China oil spill threatens sea life, water - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100721/ap_on_bi_ge/as_china_pipeline_explosion) Get out the tinfoil hat TTE 'cause Shell Oil must be in on the conspiracy too: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/17/world/africa/17nigeria.html "It was only a few weeks ago [the Article is from June 16th], they say, that a burst pipe belonging to Royal Dutch Shell in the mangroves was finally shut after flowing for two months: now nothing living moves in a black-and-brown world once teeming with shrimp and crab. ... As many as 546 million gallons of oil spilled into the Niger Delta over the last five decades, or nearly 11 million gallons a year, a team of experts for the Nigerian government and international and local environmental groups concluded in a 2006 report. By comparison, the Exxon Valdez spill in 1989 dumped an estimated 10.8 million gallons of oil into the waters off Alaska. So the people here cast a jaundiced, if sympathetic, eye at the spill in the gulf. “We’re sorry for them, but it’s what’s been happening to us for 50 years,” said Emman Mbong, an official in Eket." LOL Meanwhile, back in his bunker, TTE is drafting an expose' of the Federal Reserve's unregulated control of Nigerian banking. It's doesn't really matter though, I have it from reliable sources that the world is ending. SolidSnake84 07-23-2010, 09:40 AM Dont get me wrong guys. My sanity isn't really coming to an end. Its just the last few weeks our church has been saying all these world disasters are all predicted in the bible, and just last sunday, the preacher read this passage that pretty much alluded to the gulf crisis almost word for word. I dont know what to believe. I dont know enough of the bible to know if any of this is really true. So please forgive me, and be gentle. KLHJ2 07-23-2010, 09:53 AM I have a feeling that I am going to regret this but you can interpret almost anything into anything when it comes to Biblical prophecy. Many passages are just too wide open and as long as you don't use a literal translation anything is possible. Fire away thumpers! JoeRedskin 07-23-2010, 09:59 AM ^^ (Jumping into the firestorm): The Bible is beautiful literature and an inspired writing. It is also several parts recorded history, poetry and allegory. Sometimes all mixed in within a couple of Chapters or verses. Although the passage read may have seemed to allude to the gulf crisis "word for word", out of context reading of the Bible can be used for any number of things. Don't have mine with me right now, but I could justify, rationalize or show as predictions any number of actions or world events. Obviously, lots of passages can be read out of context and not lose their meaning. But even these gain greater meaning when you look at the surrounding verses, to whom the particular author was writing, the particular themes being addressed by the author, etc. Passages pertaining to the world's end and the apocalypse have been read by many for centuries to justify fear mongering. The apocalyptic, end of the world stuff is some of the most controversial, oft-quoted, misunderstood stuff in the Bible. In my humble opinion, it's not something to be taken literally, but to be studied as an allegory for human behavior. Again, part poetry, part symbolism and prophecy in only the broadest definition of the word. I dont know what to believe. I dont know enough of the bible to know if any of this is really true. So please forgive me, and be gentle. I believe the Bible. Not much reservations in that at all. Having said that, if a preacher is claiming to know a prophecy is being fulfilled, you better test his prophetic abilities, God was pretty clear on false prophets. Further, while these may/may not be signs of the end time a preacher who is claiming these are directly reflected in the Bible is one I would personally steer clear of. It is very similar to how Nostradamus can talk about a man pig flying, and people say he predicted jet flight. Not impossible, highly improbable. |
