Does anyone else feel like our players are mentally sharper?
HUGE difference from 2009 preseason to 2010 present!saden1 08-28-2010, 05:50 PM Does anyone else feel like our players are mentally sharper? Hog1 08-28-2010, 05:57 PM OK, since I apparently missed it, what WAS his point? I believe the point was that preseason is not a good barometer for the regular season (see Colts). And in many cases meaningless, especially when taken as a whole.....first's on first's notwithstanding........ artmonkforhallofamein07 08-28-2010, 05:58 PM Yes, they actually have a coach Saden!! I also feel that with the scheme change and the amount of time that the players and coaches have spent around each other this offseason learning the nuances of what they are trying to do is showing up on the field. It may not be showing on the scoreboard yet but I am sure that coach likes what he is seeing in some respects in the film room. I was hoping to see a team lead by our running game this year, but I am not so sure on that point just yet. Longtimefan 08-28-2010, 06:20 PM Still trying to figure out just what kind of team we're going to be. Don't put too much stock in preseason games, they're basically played for the purpose of evaluation and a process for elimination. Two things I've witnessed so far that must be improved upon....running the ball and stopping the run. Stats, I'm not so much concerned about at this time. The red flag is going up for me if they can't begin to stop the run -- that's definitely a concern. I just posted in another thread that our running game is lacking now because there are three new guys on the line who have yet to play a full game together -- to get a sense of how they're going to gel as a unit. There simply hasn't been enough time for them to develop chemistry just yet. Remember, only Dockery and Rabach have playing time with each other. I'm not worried about the rushing attack yet. I'm impressed with the physicality of the o-line. Should they continue to play with drive and determination, the running game should improve. I agree with the assertion that the more reps they get together, the more the production should increase. Preach aceinthehouse 08-28-2010, 08:01 PM People are scared of how our defense is playing and yet the 1st team has given up 1 offensive TD by the ravens. From the 1 yard line and from that fake punt. Yes,I've noticed that we are giving up rushing yards, but football isn't about yards and stats. it's what team puts the most points on the scoreboard. Not to mention Fat Al has been running with the 2nd team for all of preseason except for a few snaps against the jets. Where he tossed Mangold like a rag doll. I love what I have seen. Gang tackling... more caused turnovers as Haslet promised And everyone flying to the ball and not walking around. If this is vanilla, then we are going to be crazy good. And our pass defense is awesome.. I mean..I had no idea carlos rogers could cover people...SERIOUSLY! lol D-hall is a flat out playmaker. Where are the haters on his aquisition? Come out now... And the passing game is night and day from last year... We actually throw the ball past 10 yards from the line of scrimmage...it's really a neat concept..lol I am concerned about the running game. Not because our O-line can't run block... But because I'm wondering if ANY of our RB's are simply... fast enough. That does concern me.... But I think that will open up,when Mcnabb is throwing 70 yard darts to armstrong or moss.. Great passing opens up the running game, just like it does vice versa(playaction,etc).. No worries on my end Skins fans!! beemnsevenspop 08-28-2010, 09:37 PM I believe the point was that preseason is not a good barometer for the regular season (see Colts). HE points to the Colts - YOU point to the Colts, but when I point out that the 'Skins aren't the Colts, I'm told "You're missing the point." And I'M the one being accused of drinking Kool Aid....... And I'M the one being accused of drinking Kool Aid....... I can't imagine anyone is saying you're drinking any cool aid, but maybe you should ease off the beem n seven. So let's recap 1. Original poster says we're better this preseason than last 2. GMScud says don't read much into preseason because it doesn't necessarily reflect what happens in the regular season. See: the colts 3. No one I'd sayin we're the colts. Scud could have said see the Lions and the point would have been the same |
