PHazard 09-06-2010, 04:52 PM That means nothing. The guy doesn't know how to run routes which is a killer for any receiver. On top of that he has trouble catching the ball in traffic. All his speed is simply straight line as he's slow in and out of cuts (part of the reason he struggles with route running).
I get ur points. but in our offense, The Z receiver (Santana Moss) is the one who moves around, does most of the cutting, intermediate routes, moves to the slot, needs precise route running skills. The X receiver is the deep threat, running deeper routes to clear guys underneath. Not that the X receiver does a fly everytime but its less emphasized. Plus Kyle Shanahan knows how to move his receivers around to get the best out of them. And was thinking with McCardell's help he could improve his route running. Sorry, I'm just lookin at any option to replace Joey Galloway. AND AT THE VERY LEAST, knock Roydell Williams off our god damn roster. VJ is too expensive, TJ is already gone, Mark Clayton was traded 4 mins after moving to the trading block.
List i would consider looking at (Not in this order):
James Hardy (as i mentioned)
Michael Clayton (have already discussed)
Freddie Barnes
Juaquin Inglesias
David Clowney
Kelley Washington (Was a 3rd down ace last year plus a great special teamer)
Jason Hill (not sure how serious his injury is)
Marko Mitchell (i dont care how his route running is, he has to have potential to do better)
Thats just to name a few. I dont even like them all but think they are better than Roydell Williams. I think we even have an in house WR better than williams in Terrance Austin but thats another rant for another time.

This is a classic example of 'grass isn't greener'. Just because someone isn't a Redskin doesn't make him better than current Redskins.
James Hardy-Makes Malcolm Kelly look like a picture of health.
Michael Clayton-I'm surprised he hasn't been signed yet also b/c of his tie to Allen
Freddie Barnes-???
Juaquin Inglesias-Has never done anything in the NFL
David Clowney-Also, never done anything and was ripped on Hard Knocks for his lazy approach to his assignments
Kelley Washington-Has been great at ST and nothing else through his career
Jason Hill-You don't know how hurt he is, but he's better than active players we have?
Marko Mitchell-He's been cut by 3 teams and is now in the CFL
Explain how any of these are an upgrade?

And all of our receivers are learning all of the roles. Our receivers have to be able to play all of the roles, and it's quite clear he can't.
WTF is up with people and their love for scrubs? Receivers play a guessing game with cornerbacks, and every time they tip off the corner, the corner likely gonna guess right and stone the receiver almost EVERY STINKING TIME.
How do they tip off the corner? By running shitty routes. DUH
geichidanman 09-09-2010, 09:46 AM Did Javon Walker get signed? That guy is a gamer, and he played well in pre-season with the Vikings. he knows the West coast offense too.

Do we have any interest in him? For depth perhaps...not to start!
He has to be better than Heyer even if he is injured...
Worth a look I think!
mlmpetert 09-13-2010, 10:18 AM Overall I am happy with our team, but.... I wouldnt mind putting Banks on the practice squad and bringing in Macho Harris for a look at punt returner and as competition for Doughty at FS. I don’t like the idea of putting our nickel/number 3 corner as punt returner, especially when the drop off from 3 to 4 is pretty dramatic. After last night i would be scared putting Banks in as punt returner. Granted Dallas’ defense is good, but if there was a mistake like a dropped punt we don’t have the offense right now to score some make up points. Banks has a lot of potential, but I think hes too much of a risk at this point and I doubt anyone is going to try to sign him off our practice squad.
I also wouldn’t mind getting some Owen Schmidt. Sellers didn’t look too hot and hasn’t looked so hot since 2008. If Darrel Young can take the starting role from Sellers, id assume to bring in someone like Schmidt to be a young back up vet, with longer term promise. Sellers has been one of my favorite players over the last couple years, but I think this is his last year as a Skin and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him loose his starting job at some point this year.

The Colts, who have a superb front office and issues at the offensive line got rid of this guy. If healthy and cheap maybe, but until then no thanks.
