Dirtbag59 09-20-2010, 12:02 AM Question:
If Mike Shanahan's offensive scheme can take any "dork off the street" and turn him into a 1000 yard rusher in the NFL, where was that "dork off the street" this week?
Here's a pretty good breakdown of the teams second half rushing woes compiled by the best poster on this forum. I mean this guy is so good that when he's debating you it's like you're on an island.

SouperMeister 09-20-2010, 12:26 AM I think individually the defense is not that bad, not as bad as the stats suggest. True we gave up a lot of yards, but we gave them up to the number one passing offense a year ago too. I also get the sense that this team isn't down on itself like they would have been a year ago after a loss like this. So I'll chalk that up to leadership. But you just can't have no running game and expect your defense to slug it out with Houston all day long. No defense could have.
Adam Carriker looks like he's finding his sea legs out there. God, I was really down on the guy when we signed him, but if stays healthy he might be a keeper.
I'll ditto Matty on Laron Landry. He'll never make people forget about Sean Taylor 'round these parts, but he's starting to carve out his own little rep for being a fierce defender and is always around the ball. He's putting up Pro Bowl numbers.Taylor was my favorite Skin, and while I agree that Landry is not the player that Sean was, he does one thing better - blitz the QB. I can see Landry getting 6-8 sacks this year if given the chance to blitz 2 or 3 times a game. The man is a beast.
DCtoAZ 09-20-2010, 01:42 AM good call on all the positives for week 2 ..
I would also throw a nod to Graham Nano ..I know he missed the winning kick, but dammit he hit the first one before that bullshit timeout rule ....
Let's take this for what it was .. a GREAT game played by 2 playoff teams IMO
Get back to work on Monday ... FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS all week and get ready to pound the Rams 45-3
mooby 09-20-2010, 01:59 AM I feel like the Rams should be a good rebound team. I know we barely beat them last year, but last year doesn't need any explanation and I feel like the Rams will be a good team to take our anger and frustration from this game out on. As for positives from this game, well lets see:
- McNabb ballin.
- Cooley and Moss doing their usual thing
- I guess you could just say passing game overall, despite a couple miscues our secondary receivers/te's/backs started showing up
- Finally started scoring touchdowns (I was getting really concerned when we went up 6-0, up to that point we were 4-5 in the redzone in 2 games but all 4 were field goals)
- Got some good pressure on Schaub and were able to sack him multiple times before he adjusted
- Rogers got a pick!
That's pretty much all I got for now.
skinsfaninok 09-20-2010, 06:25 AM I loved out pass game yesterday, mcnabb is fantastic and Kyle and Mike called a great game. I know we lost and it sucks but we have a very respectable team here folks. If we could just get a run game going, we would be scary on offense. Our D played solid all day until late, Houstons offense is very hard to stop.. We will bounce back with a Win next week at STL... HTTR!
irish 09-20-2010, 07:24 AM They scored 27 points. It used to take 3 games to score 27 against good teams, I like that it seems like they can score points. Plus they are entertaining to watch, the last few years were painfully boring to watch a team be almost incapable of scoring.
Longtimefan 09-20-2010, 09:19 AM ^^ The vast majority of the noteworthy positives from the game have already been pointed out, the fact we experienced that late game meltdown on defense should not overshadow them. Yesterday's game highlighted both our strengths and weaknesses.
I tip my hat to the Texans, they came into our place and [with a little help from us] played the majority of the game coming from behind and did enough to win. In defense of the defense [notwithstanding personell issues] fatigue, coupled with the belief they had the game won before actually winning it contributed to their downfall. Could it be we just couldn't stand prosperity having a sizeable lead late in the game, a situation all too uncommon to us?
This was one of those games where the outcome leaves you with mixed emotions, so many good things, [seemingly enough to win] enough bad that it's causes you to lose.
skinsfan69 09-20-2010, 09:22 AM There were a lot of positives. The one thing that really stands out is that Kyle and his dad know how to design and run an offense. When was the last time we saw roll outs, play action roll outs and the QB throws back across the field? I don't think I've seen that since Gibbs 1. So very happy about that. I also like that McNabb isn't afraid to take some chances. Even though the 3-20 was called back, at least we now have someone who has the confidence to make that stick throw.
firstdown 09-20-2010, 09:34 AM We actually played in an O shoot out. When the hell was the last time we did that?
