I'd say both in my opinion but an offensive coordinator more for the short term and GM for the long term. I'd love to see us hire former Lions head coach Marty Mornhinweg to come in as an offensive coordinator to assist in the tuteldge of Ramsey (former tutor of Bret Farve), and uses the west coach offense. I would live to see a hybrid of the Joe Gibbs Style and the West Coast passing style, Maybe someone like Mike Fairchild of Saint Louis. As for a Gm I would love to see one here... but the addition of one wouldn't mean the loss of Vinny because he is the vice president of football operations, and personal brown noser to Snyder... I would love to see a gm that is destinguished like Mark Hurney of Carolina, Kevin Colbert of pittsburgh, or someone like Dom Anile or Chris Polian of indi.

Vinny has to go no question about it! I think Daniel Synder knows it to! Whether if he admits to it or not is a completely different story.
I think a GM would help Gibbs the most. Like the article in the WP says, who is going to say no to Joe Gibbs if he sets his sights on a player? Is Vinny or Danny going to tell Joe Gibbs no? I highly doubt it.
A GM would help take some of the pressure off Gibbs in the personnel area and let him focus on what he does best, coach.
I think he's smart enough to fix what's wrong with the offense. I'm sure he already knows what needs to be done, but it's too hard to make major changes in the middle of the season. You can't overlook the fact that the offensive struggles aren't all on Gibbs either, the execution has been pretty miserable all year.

I believe this year is just trial and error anyway. Don't get me wrong, I think Gibbs wants to win, but I believe the biggest focal point of this year is finding out who the team players are and who are willing to give it 110%. I do think the Redskins need to finish strong enough to give us an idea as to who we can depend on though.
I also don't believe we have seen near as much of the system as what we thought we would see this year.

If we dotn finish strong I dont think its going to matter who our GM is, people arent going to want to come and play for us. Players have always had high hopes for coming here, along with a big paycheck to do it. But players also want to win.

Honestly, I was not trying to take a pot shot at Vinnie Boombatz with my comment about the trainwreck in SF. I was only referring to the goofs there for the last couple of years who have managed to eat a lot of dead money AND stock the team with sub-standard talent. When I wrote that note, I had actually forgotten for a moment that he ahd ever been in SF.
Vinnie was there in a different incarnation. I don't think he belings in the same category as the folks in New England, Philly, PIttsburgh or some other places, but he is waaay better than the guys in SF now.

I say try and pry Fassel from Baltimore and keep him from taking a college or another NFL job. He is great with QBs which is where we need most of our help. Let him be a "coordinator" and get a WRs coach in here that can keep the WRs focused and catching.

Three things: Hope we have our offensive line healthy all season long next season -- and add a heavy jumbo package for short downs; add a big power fullback on third downs or plays in which we need a powerback to get that first down or on goal line; add a sure handed veteran wide receiver to be mentor to the receivers we have on the team right now -- let him be the "go to guy" when we need sure hands or a possession receiver and let him take Gardner's place. With those three things, our offense should be worlds apart from what it is this year.
