Yeah people definitely panic and lock up the brakes only to lose control. Gotta tap on the brakes and steer yourself outta trouble.

Dude focus on the Celebration Ale!

I'll be focusing on a few this weekend no doubt. One of my favorite restaurants has it on tap this time of year... so good

Actually you can use power to the wheels to help you steer better but most people panic and hit the brakes.

Not really. No traction is no traction whether you're stopping or accelerating. Most vehicles have open differentials these days, and if you try to accelerate too much, you run the risk of generating torque steer, which is unpredictable and dangerous in the slick stuff.

Yep, the key is to be smooth. Ease into the brakes, accelerator, and steering. It's a good practice no matter the driving conditions.

I just thought I'd update everyone that during that first snow, I left work about 3 hours early and got home at the SAME TIME I always do because the roads around my office were trash. I work about 3 mins off the beltway and it took me over and hour to get on there. There were a bunch of 18 wheelers at the traffic light to turn onto 7100 and it was horrendous. The beltway was pretty much fine, but everyone was going slow, all in all it took me 2 hours and 45 minutes to navigate what's normally under an hour trip.

I have no idea where Stephens City is at but if it's anywhere near NoVa I will be glad as hell I'm leaving town today. F the snow, especially when it's too cold for the salt and chemicals to melt it on the road.

Edit: According to google you're about 1 1/2 hours from Woodbridge, but you're still pretty close to NoVa compared to the rest of the state. Like I said I'll def. be glad I'm gonna be out of town if the snow comes my way.
