^ don't give up on him yet bro, he's a good coach and has been his whole career.. The guy is highly talked of here even 20 plus years after he coached at OU.. He knows the game just takes time to turn our bush league team around

I don't mind being pleasantly surprised, and I'm ready for it too.

^ the " in Shanny I trust" slogan is still alive for me.. I have no doubt that he will create a playoff contender in Wsh, in 2 years when we finish 11-5 and win the east you will "trust" him also

I feel even more confident about our future with a coach that believes the best player should play regardless of the money he makes or his draft position. It time to root for players for there performance on the field.

I wish I were as confident as you guys...this in Shanny I trust stuff is a bit over the top considering his teams performance...just like players need to be accountable for their personal performance...the coach needs to be accountable for the team record...so far I am unimpressed...but still willing to hope that this is a 3 year project...I predicted a 7-9 season when most were saying 9-7 or 10-6...and I am a skeptic...obviously hitting 7-9 would be the best possible scenario at this point....did anyone really think that the star Shanny with McNabb and Allen would only yield 1 more win than Zorn, Campbell, and Vinny with 2 games to go? (and possibly for the whole season)

It is true that you are only as good as your record....as a team....and as a coach...I feel the honeymoon "love" should be wearing off for Shanny as he has made his fair share of mistakes...predominantly with how he deals with personnel and his history of screwing up defenses.

McNabb underperformed and should be criticized...but Shanny and Allen have obviously underperformed as well.
The only guys I can think of that overperformed....are guys that weren't even on the squad last year...Banks, Torrain.

Unless there is a major upgrade on the lines...and a legit starter at QB and RB...this team will post another losing record next year. Don't be tempted to drink the annual koolaid.

Hail to the Redskins

If I had to say... I'm guessing we will be selecting 7th overall in the 2011 draft.

According to what I'm seeing, I figure that these teams will be ahead of us:

1) Carolina - 2-13 with Atlanta next week. Definite #1... but do they take Luck? I don't think that's a lock. I could see a trade down here.

2) Denver - 3-11 with Hou & SD left. Do they take Luck with Tebow there? I personally don't think so, but who knows.

3) Cincinnati - 3-11 with SD & Balt left. I think they may have a new coach & definitely take a QB here.

4) Arizona - 4-10 with Dallas & SF left. We all know they will be taking a QB... but do they trade up to get above Cincy?

5) Detroit - 4-10 with Mia & Minny left. (If they win either game & we lose both, they actually fall behind us.. decent possibilty of that actually) They aren't taking a QB here.

6) Buffalo - 4-10 with NE & Jets left. (Same as Detroit as far as falling behind us, except they aren't beating NE or NYJ). Many people say QB here, but I'm not sold. Fitzpatrick has had a very solid year and has built a great connection with WR Steve Johnson.... again who knows.

I feel that there is a huge possibility that one of these four will be on our roster in 2011:

* Andrew Luck - At best, next generation's Peyton Manning... at worst... next generation's Eli Manning. I doubt we have the guns to move up to get him regardless.

* Cam Newton - Who knows what he'll end up being... but just imagine if he IS the real deal... not just another Vince Young. I think he and Locker have the biggest All-Pro or Bust mold in the draft. If he's still there with Locker at our pick... that'd be really interesting to see.

* Ryan Mallet - Don't know if he fit's Shanny's offense, but huge arm to make all of the throws and, really, Schaub & Elway didn't run around much.

* Jake Locker - Most suited to Shanny's optimal system QB. I'm thinking Jake Plummer with a stronger arm & 4.4/4.5 speed (Have you all seen him out run safeties?)... but it seems as though he has Grossman's decision-making.

As of this moment, we would pick 9th behind SF & Dallas... but I think San Fran will beat either STL or Arizona and I think Dallas will beat Arizona tomorrow night... moving them each behind us.

Most likely Luck & Newton will be gone by our pick (my wild guess is Luck to Arizona & Newton to Cincy)... I truly think Jake Locker will be on our roster next year, but sit behind Sexy Rexy... that was what I voted.

I also think that after Luck (who I believe is the real deal)... between Newton, Mallet, and Locker... they will be compared for years as to who got the right QB and who got the bust.

These are just my opinions and could be way off... but there's the lay of the land at least.

There have been some REALLY great QB's in the draft the past recent years but we missed out.
The season isnt even over and Im haunted by a feeling that next year is already written off. I dont think any FA QBs want to deal with daddy/son egos and a pathetic OL/WR core.
But if we get word Haslett is fired I think we have a shot to contend for the division like we ought to have won this year despite a team divided by coaches/players.
If we were going to bench mcnabb/AH and openly sacrifice this season to gain control of the authorita- i wonder if we would have been better off keeping zorn not firing haslett and waiting for gruden or cowher for the 2011 season. I mean what good is a FEW more wins when we are even more terrible and reaching new lows of embarassment????
Its going to be a long offseason and maybe an added sentence under this regime. Hail Hit-no shanahans

The Shanny I trust stuff is utter nonsense. Remember in Gibbs II we trust, Spurrier, etc? The performances in terms of game planning, play calling, and handling personnel thus far for the Shanahans has been abysmal at best. Ditto for Allen. These guys should have already known that McNabb wasn't a good fit for the system. Isn't strange that the Eagles would give up their multiple Pro Bowl QB to an intradivisional rival, and nobody in Redskins Park gave it a second thought? A lot of us were excited about getting DM, but still the Eagles obviously knew he wasn't the QB to give them a title. If these guys bumble through draft 2011, game(franchise) over. These guys will be looking for new jobs come Jan 2013. He might be a good coach, but he hasn't won squat since 1998, even with a ton of post Elway talent in a crappy division. Too many of the kool aid drinkers in here are like love lorn college chicks without self esteem throwing themselves at any guy thinking he loves her, while in the end she is just used and disillusioned. Happens way too much!

The main differences between Locker and Newton are that Locker not only played in a pro style offense but he also started games every year for the four years he played at Washington. Apparently one of the biggest indicators of success for QB's at the next level is the number of starts a QB is able to gather during their college career. Newton is not only coming out early (a quality that seems to hurt most QB's) but he only has one year of playing experience. Newton is going to be a bust short of playing for Andy Reid.

And as for the Locker love, why? Kid has an arm, but he throws a lot of INTs and his deceision making sucks. I would go for him over Newton though.

I agree totally. Mallet or Locker should be the man if we do indeed draft a QB first. To me though we need to give the next guy a frigging line before we waste a draft pick on a QB. I am just thinking about Stafford in Detroit. Kid is now junk, while a better line would have kept him from becoming MR. Glass so soon. Locker has the raw talent, but I put him in the same category as Snead.

We need to draft o linemen in this draft and it appears this is a good year to do it as the pool looks pretty deep. Luck is the only "franchise" qb in this draft, at least based on tape. Ideally we get a top shelf lineman, perhaps a 3-4 DE or offensive lineman and then see what's available in the second round. If someone like Mallett or Locker has fallen, which is quite possible, take one, otherwise, add more linemen.
As for Haslett, you can't expect to have an elite 3-4 defense the first year you implement it, especially when your lacking in the personnel department. We have some of the pieces for it to work but we need to add either a stout end or a big nose tackle, another rush linebacker and for god's sake, can we draft a fricken FS? Then again, I wonder if Kevin Barnes might be able to take that spot. Either way, I feel that given more than one year and a healthy Laron Landry, the defense could turn into a monster.

While I understand we are all frustrated by two decades of continual sucking, the knee jerk reaction to fire Haslett is quite premature. Our defense gave up a lot of yards early and has to blitz constantly, but we forced a ton of turnovers and at least made up for the yardage by keeping the points allowed reasonable. The loss of Landry pretty much ruined the d not to mention the fact that our offense has been anemic at best for the majority of the season. With the additions of more 3-4 talent, we could turn into one of the leagues best. It just isn't going to happen over night.
