SBXVII 01-28-2011, 12:28 PM Id be interested in reading that from a credible source. But that is the first I have heard of it.
Romo is under contract until 2014, so anything about "not renewing his contract"
is highly suspect.
I never said it was credible just that there was a rumor out there. I think Dallas would be crazy to trade Romo, but if they are finally tired of his play I could see them doing it. Heck the Titans fired Fischer which is a supprise to me.

and yes it's bleacher report. Like I said I never said it was credible. But this is partly where it is all coming from and why I said even Dallas might be in line to draft a QB ahead of us.
People keep saying we should draft Locker but with so many teams ahead of us possibly needing a QB and if Locker is labled the best of the bunch what makes people think he will be there at #10? I'll agree anything is possible especially with Lockers stock supposedly dropping due to accuracy issues.

Thanks for the links, makes for entertaining reading. Like Jurassic Park, interesting concept, but after that......meh.
The drafting of Steven McGee a few years ago is the key though. Every team would love to have the luxury of having an Aaron Rodgers. In other words, a first round draft pick QB that you can afford to have wait and train in the wings for 3 years because you have a future hall of famer in place.
Thats just not the case though. For the most part, first rounders are expected to start these days and that luxury just is not there.
So Dallas drafted Steven McGee a few years ago, let him sit back on the depth chart, learn and develop. And if he develops correctly, at the end of Romo's contract maybe he gets the nod. He's looked good so far, but if it does not work out, there are still options open.
Romo himself sat behind Testeverde and Bledsoe for 3 years before he got his first start.
warriorzpath 01-28-2011, 03:53 PM Newton may be an extremely gifted athlete, but I think it's a simple decision. Reach for Cam Newton at #10 or wait until next year and draft T Pryor of Ohio State in the 4th round. They are almost indentical in size -both gifted runners that can escape defenders and torch you for big gains. Pryor is a more polished passer and has started 3 bowl games with his Sr. Season only to get better. Pryor faces a 5 game suspension for selling memorabilia so his draft stock may be on the low end.
After watching Cam Newton in the bowl game with Oregon, I thought he might be okay to take with the 10th overall as long as there some assumption that he would sit at least a couple of years to develop his passing game, but after seeing some plays from Pryor and comparing- I changed my mind. If he can show a lot more accuracy throwing it deep, then maybe.
And as for Pryor, if he was coming out this year, I really doubt he would go in the fourth round. To me, he looks like a definite 1st rounder.

Being a Buckeye fan I think he is every bit and more the QB Newton is. He actually goes through his reads.( but like McNabb: deep to dump off) Unfortunately with a shortened season (5-6 games) he may fall back a couple rounds, I admit, never to the 4th. Some may question his character for selling his Big10 Championship ring and maze pants. He has proven to me his loyalty when he promised Tressel he would return in spite of his scandal.

I would take Romo in this offense any day of the week over any of the QB's we have now on our roster, any of the QB's in the draft, any of the other QB's available for trade, and any of the QB's available in free agency

Is this Candace Crawford, or Jessica Simpson??
tryfuhl 01-28-2011, 08:57 PM Well with recent changes in Tennessee...I've lost a string. And that's all I'm going to say about that
Will they still be your 2nd team now?
musicmaster45 02-04-2011, 09:09 PM Okay I would be so pissed if we took Newton with the tenth pick. We need to trade down. Also trade Mcnaab and Haynesworth for a pick or too. Other possibilitiies for picks would be Portis or Fred Davis but idk if trading them is the smartest thing. We need lots of players to fill holes. Not 5. I mean we get 3 OL and 2 LB and a FS and even a lower round quarterback like Dalton or Ponder.

Welcome to the WP MM45!
Terpfan76 02-05-2011, 12:28 AM You know, I don't like any of these qbs and I really don't understand what all the fuss is about with this Dalton kid, but at this point, draft a qb that's within 2 years or so of being ready and give us someone to cry for when Rexy starts handing out souvenirs and pick sixes.
