It amazes me that anyone cares what they are called. I am a fan of the team no matter what silly nickname they use. No it really wouldn't be the same. They would still be Washington DC's pro football team and i guess most people from the area would still cheer for them. For me the name is everything...I have been a Redskins fan since i was 5 years old and it started with the colors and the name of the team and grew from there. The team i grew up loving is the Redskins and if they are no longer called the Redskins it will feel like the team I love got killed. Not bad. They can view the team as a symbol of recognition and pride. I wonder if teams had started changing there names purposely before this liberal move started, (We don't want any reference to indians in American football) if they would now be complaining of discrimination. Just a thought...
