At least with KJ we know he gives 100% and is a great locker room guy. I would just bring him in to show that pos AH how to be a professional. Give KJ 2 year 8 mill contract.
What we need is a true NT for the type of defense we have in place. I think it would be a good idea to have a player that has actual experience playing the NT position to help develop a rookie NT (if we bring one) and to continue to develop Bryant. I think this is a bit more relevant than showing Haynesworth how to be a professional.

So do we know what other NTs are available in free agency (if it happens). I guess with this whole labor mess is kinda hard to determine who's available and whatnot.

I'm all for a veteran showing people how to play NT. But an old guy without a knee doesn't sound like more than a position coach. If his knees are better I'd be fine with it. Free agents only cost money, they don't cost draft picks or our future. 8 million is excessive - I'm all for the classic vet min and then performance based incentives.
Just as a side comment, the starting NT for the Pittsburgh Steelers - Casey Hampton, is 33 going on 34, and I believe just signed an extension.

I trust Allen's instinct, I mean he got LJ and Willie Parker for nothing, they didn't work out, and were kicked to the curb. Honestly, I dunno how much money Jenkins can command given his health history.

Talent and more recent experience playing the 3-4.

I really like Jenkins but he is just too beaten up to be a serious factor.
Well we can just force Albert again at the nose tackle spot and he will just lay down.

With our limited number of draft picks this year we are going to have to sign some undrafted free agents and hope we can find a Brandon Banks at the NT and LB spots. We have to learn to stop giving up draft picks like its nothing.

Or we can get a NT that actually knows how to play the position and is a better fit for it instead of forcing guys into schemes that don't fit their skills.

I wouldn't necessary call it a tragedy, more like wasted talent. His shitty attitude makes him a wasted talent, and so does the team's insistence in wasting his ability at the NT position. In the end, he put himself in this position by taking the 21 mil bonus money. And the team should've known better to overpay for him.
Sean Taylor (happy birthday) was a tragedy. AH is a travesty
