SmootSmack 05-21-2011, 10:02 AM First, yes too many players have said it and it's a culture that needs to change and I believe that it is (though after a couple of decades it may take a while). Second, it's not every player. Third, some of these guys who talk need to take a hard look in the mirror.
#56fanatic 05-21-2011, 12:32 PM So basically, you think it is SOS in Skinsville? Nothing has changed with the advent of the MS/BA regime? This year we will jump at the chance to stockpile a few.....NO-playin' Alberts at 40m per?
Skinsville is what it is, and it has been for the better part of 10-12 years. Every year, every new coach "things are going to be different, we going to do it the right way...blah blah" Honestly, has anything changed regardless of who the coach is?? No, its been the same no matter who was there. Except for Marty. He didn't do what was the norm and got fired after 1 year. Even Joe was sucked into the madness when he was there. SPending money, throwing away picks.
Now, this offseason the only difference is going to be we actually drafted 12 players. We are going to go out and spend money, like always. I guess the only thing that is of any consulation is it wont be Vinny saying we need this guy or that guy. Hopefully Bruce will have some pull into getting the RIGHT players and not all on Shanny. Shanny doesnt have the greatest reputation of building a team. When he took over the GM position in Denver, they steadily went down hill.
Its not all doom and gloom, but every year its the same BS. And every year I get blasted for being realistic. We can't talk or expect anything different from this team until it is consistantly winning, consistantly doing things the right way. 1 year of actually utilizing the draft doesn't mean that is the norm. 11 years of shitting on the draft and wasting money, that is the norm. I look for this year to be a rebuilding year. (Which I am actually excited about) probably not a 500 team, probably one of the worst actually. What needs to happen though is give Bruce and Shanahan 4 years to get the ship righted. WE can't throw him to the curb and bruce to the curb after two years. Just like evey other coach, except Joe.

Are YOU not the person painting the team with the heavy handed brush of doom and gloom?
"More of the same when the CBA is signed"?
Honestly, if I believed what you are suggesting, I would.....find something ELSE enjoyable to do.........

People crack me up. I say the obvious of what has happened here for the last 10 plus years, and now all of the sudden my passion and love for the team is in question. Never say anything negative about redskins nation...
Its not about believing or not believing. That is what has happened. I hope every year that it is different. And for many years I would believe the "this year its going to be different", but it hasn't. I love my Redskins more than the next guy, and am cheering, cursing, hollaring every sunday from the start to the end of the game. Just because I state the obvious doesn't mean I should find something else to do, nor do I want to find something else to do. I just dont buy into the hype every year because every year its been the same ole crap.
that said, I hope this year is different.
Maybe you could point out that part where I questioned your...Redskin...hood and provided the subsequent amusement???
To cut to the chase, review your own posts and you will soon see you have basically condemned the Skins (including this year, although you do waffle) to NFL purgatory...forever?
I basically do not disagree with much of what you say regarding years that have gone by nor do I believe the SKins will be a contender this year or next for that matter....so much for Kool aid consumption.
NOTE: I do expect them to do so under the current regime.
Where I do differ is that there appears to be much to be positive about this year and if the start of this year is any indicator, for years to come with MS/BA. Time will certainly tell. Just stating the obvious.
CultBrennan59 05-22-2011, 12:44 AM Classless b*...oh wait.
Hmmm, Mr Tryon went from the Redskins TO the Colts.
Mr Smith went from the Colts to the Redskins.
BOTH noted the difference in how they approach their job.
Folks, this may not be a true peer review, but it's two independent mouths talking here. Maybe that culture thing Willie Parker was talking about wasn't so ridiculous after all.
Agreed. Theres something up with this team to have talent like we do, and coaches like we do, to play awful year after year

Yeah, I'm with Hog with this one. I understand where you're coming from Fanatic but, your point of view on this upcoming season sounds like you've already seen it before. We drafted 12 players, Beck may be starting QB. I've NEVER seen redskins draft so purposefully before; at least that's different, get an influx of new blood in the locker room, with that said, obviously we won't be contenders but HS did say he sensed a culture shift towards the end of his time....lets hope he was right.
Allen clarifies 'aggressive' free agency remarks
Asked if he could assure Redskins fans that this would not mean a return to the way the team has operated in the past, trying to buy a championship and ending up with teams that were old, expensive and without
much success, Allen emphatically said: “No, we’ve dealt with that.”
“I think the draft is our statement of our game plan,” Allen said. “We added 12 players who are going to infuse youth into every position on our team.”

That means we're going after Nnamdi lol
Dirtbag59 05-23-2011, 12:56 PM Colts have possibly closed their window with average drafting the last few years. I mean Anthony Gonzalez in the first round?
