2011 NFL Free Agents: WR (http://www.footballsfuture.com/2011/fa/wr.html)

How much is Santana moss valued around the league? I was looking up free agents, and he is not listed as a top free agent pretty much anywhere. This irks me, and gets under my skin. Out of all the free agent WR's available, Moss significantly has the most catches (by 21 to TO), and the most yards (by 132 to TO) to the second leaders available. He also came in 3rd in TDs with 6 behind Braylon edwards (7) TO (9).

The "significant WRs" on this particular list include Sidney Rice, Malcolm Flloyd, Randy Moss, TO, Steve Breston, James Jones, Braylon Edwards, Steve Smith (nyg), Santonio Holmes, Vincent Jackson, and Mike Williams (sea).

I know Moss is 32, but Randy is 34 and TO is 37. Even discounting TO and Randy because they make the list because of their ages, the fact that Santana torched the field of available WRs statistically (without a quality offense around him) and isn't even in the top 11 makes me think there is no respect for Moss or the redskins. I know that these guys aren't nfl executives and their words don't really matter, but still it gets to me that Moss is getting no respect, and it also makes me question that maybe the opinions that matter also don't respect him. Anyone else on my wavelength?

Why do you care what some random internet asshat has to say about Moss's value in relation to the overall market? If a Clayton, Shefter, Mort, etc. minimized him then I'd give it a little more credence but don't get up in arms over some dude in his mom's basement ranking free agents.

On the open market he would definitely draw some interest. I hope we lock him up right away.

Devin Hester has started campaigning for Moss to come to Chicago.

Hopefully we make signing him a priority. We'll have about 3 days to sign him without any competition. It should get done before other teams have a chance to make offers.

Hester wants Bears to sign Santana Moss - chicagotribune.com (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-hester-wants-bears-to-sign-santana-moss-20110712,0,5447028.story)

We can only hope:

Problem is, there’s no telling when free agency will begin, although an ESPN (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/espn-%28tv-network%29-HOC792.topic) report recently speculated a July 28 start date. And there is no guarantee Moss will be on the market anyway. He recently told Sporting News Radio he wants to quickly re-sign with the Redskins once free agency starts.

It wasn't just that one, it was a bunch of rankings of FA's I saw, this was just the example I gave. Like I said earlier, I know it shouldn't bother me, but it still does. Also the lack of respect for moss from these random internet asshats makes me question if nfl execs feel the same way.

I heard a caller on NFL Radio the other day bring up Moss, and Bob Papa and Ross Tucker both agreed he would draw some strong interest if he hits the market.

He might be a bit under the radar but he would have no problem finding a new team with a nice deal.

Moss has been a very consistent receiver, and would be a safer signing compared to TO and R. Moss. I hope he stays with us though.

Scout.com has him ranked at #9 if it makes you feel any better

I wish we had shown more interest in re-signing Moss before the CBA expired. While we added depth at the position through the draft, the * remains. We already know what Moss is capable of.

Moss knows the system and is a good teamate with vetern leadership skills. WR position is in transition, no need to go spend alot on another vet. We are not winning the superbowl next year. Need a vet to help make this continous transition, Moss is the guy. I wouldnt go and spend on vincent jackson or sidney rice until we get our QB issue straight.
