JoeRedskin 07-17-2011, 05:10 PM I'm with you. I can't say that part of the attraction of women's soccer for me isn't gandering at cuties such as Solo, Inka Grings, Virginia-born Ali Krieger, or the hottest of all, Alex Morgan.
I am deeply, deeply disappointed in the men of this board objectifying these hard working, accomplished young women. We should be celebrating their accomplishments, not how they look in go-go boots and a little yellow dress.

Go USA!
SmootSmack 07-17-2011, 05:29 PM What an unbelievable match. What a great moment for Japan after such a devastating year for that country.
I haven't seen a more clutch player than Abby Wambach in any sport the past couple of years, too bad the rest of the team couldn't put the game away.
Tremendous match, and excellent sportsmanship by both sides.

I detect a bit of tongue-in-cheek in your comments. But, anyhow, you know it goes both ways. There are women who adore football, basketball, etc., for the good-looking men.
I actually like the women's game because they are more team-oriented than the men. Look at the World Cup winners, Japan - I can't think of any men's team that is so team-oriented in their play.
But it doesn't hurt if the women are hot, too. :)

Well said.
SS, Julie Foudy is a keeper. She's as good in the booth as she was on the field.

Very much tongue in cheek.
To me, women's sports is like the CFL or Div. II basketball - Everything is a beat or two slower adn you don't have the amazing feats of athleticism that you get in the top men's games but there are some very athletic individuals and plays. For them, the real athleticism is, as you said, in the team work.
I like watching women's sports from time to time and enjoy the emphasis on fundamentals. I have to admit, however, I can't think of too many "Holy crap - Did you see that?!?!", jaw dropping athletic feats in all the time I've watched them. MJ had more such highlights in one year than all I've seen in women's sports.
With that said, good run USA. Well played, no shame in a losing a game like that. Better luck next time.
NC_Skins 07-17-2011, 06:56 PM The US team just simply didn't put Japan away when they had the chance. They missed opportunity after opportunity throughout the game. Even then, all they had to do is play half ass defense and they could have won the game, and even that was too much for them. A blown clear, a goal between 4 defenders. Stopping their attack after their score in extra time. Missed PKs. Obviously they didn't want this bad enough.

It def goes both ways. For me watching womens' sports is 90% for the few good looking women involved, and 10% interest in watching w/e sport it is. I just caught the last 10 min of the WC final, and that'll probably be the most I'll watch for the next couple years. But it def. goes both ways, the only reason my sister wanted to go to a Skins TC practice a couple years ago was because she thinks Chris Cooley is really good looking.
Monkeydad 07-18-2011, 11:21 AM Glad it's over...now we won't have to start every SportsCenter leading with something most of the country cares absolutely nothing about.
Gets get the REAL football started!
firstdown 07-18-2011, 03:46 PM Remember when women tennis players would let out a little sexy groan from time to time? Now it so obnoxious to watch womens tennis it does not even matter how good looking they are.
