Your refering to a different regime, a regime that was allowed to 10yrs to pull those types of crappy moves.

I just wish we all could find a way to seperate the two. Allen has been doing a fine job so far. As a matter of fact I was actually happy to hear that the Skins were well below the CAP and was supprised at how far since usually we are worried about how they will finagle the contracts they already have in order to make room. Then the new CBA comes along and they have to spend a certain % of each dollar on players I figured this will be fun to see how they find a way to spend all the dollars.

The team to have the most average WR's on it at one time.


Well if they are, they are going to have to unseat a former Redskins' squad where the #1 guy was James Thrash...

Josh McDaniels is a far better playcaller than Kyle Shanahan. I think we need to factor that in when considering the relative value of Jabar Gaffney here. I do think he was a pretty good player the last two years and pretty much just stepped up and flat replaced Brandon Marshall's production without monopolizing the offense this year.

Also keep in mind the Bronco's (experts claim) will only be running 3 WR's since they have Fox now so Gaffney doesn't fit in there plans, no different then Jarmon would not have seen playing time with all the other DT and DE's.

The Redskins scheme, I think, is more of a WR friendly scheme. Which might incorporate 4 WR's at times, but that could be 2 WR's and 2 TE's, or 3 WR's and 1 TE. So who knows.

It would have been a waste if we had cut him, instead we turned him into a productive WR.

There have been a couple of instances where Redskins defensive ends have been cut loose and gone on to have decent careers elsewhere ... N.D. Kalu and Chris Clemons, specifically. Clemons had 11 friggin' sacks for Seattle last year. Not too shabby. Don't know how he would fit in the 3-4 though. It'll be interesting to see if Jarmon does the same thing.

As for all these wideouts, let's look at the numbers from our dudes last year:

Moss -- 93 catches, 1115 yards, 6 TDs, his longest was 56 yards
Armstrong -- 44 catches, 874 yards, 3 TDs, longest reception was 76 yards.

Are these are typical numbers for a number one and number two duo?

Here's the rest ...

Joey Galloway -- 12 for 173 yards (longest was 62 yards)
Banks -- 2 catches for 10 yards
Roydell -- 8 for 109 yards (longest was 34 yards)
Terrance Austin -- 3 for 47 yards (longest was 28 yards)

^None of these guys scored a receiving TD.

Let's face it, apart from the returning capabilities of Banks, there's just not a whole lot here. I'd say we have receiving corps that's ripe for some competition...

Um, I'd like to point out that Gaffney, over the last two years, has put up the following numbers:

2009: 54 catches, 732 yards, 13.6 avg, 2 TDs
2010: 65 catches, 875 yards, 13.5 avg, 2 TDs

Those yardage and TD numbers look strikingly similar to Anthony Armstrong's. Doesn't anybody like depth in their receiving corps?

I'm fine with this move. Let the rooks compete with guys like this and see what shakes out.

Agreed.

I think people thought we'd be set with the 3 rookies and holdovers from last year, and in a normal offseason that might have been the case. But this is not a normal offseason and expecting these guys to be ready with just training camp is crazy talk. Fact is we need vets who can play now while we bring along the young guys slowly.

Gafney was suppose to be the truth coming out of college. However like most Florida receivers he struggled in the NFL.
