Rogers is absolutely not a bust. But he's certainly not one of the game's elites either. Never has been, probably never will be.
He's already start semi-bashing the team, talking about how they don't keep their own...yet he has no issue going to a team that just let Aubrayo Franklin and Nate Clements walk.
I wish him well, but his time here was long past its expiration date
I guess he missed the fact we kept Moss, Blades, Grossman, Buchanon, and Westbrook.
GTripp0012 08-03-2011, 11:15 AM Exactly, especially when Demarcus Ware was picked a few choices afterwards and Aaron Rodgers was still on the board.. Ah Joe 2.0, how you set the franchise back..
Anyways, good riddance to Rogers, one of my least favorite Redskins of recent time.. His ego far out paced his talent and production. I never got why he had so many supporters. He was beaten, benched, quit (IMO in 2009) and never took any responsibility. Kick rocks Carlos, enjoy the Bay.Well, Paintrain, you win this round. In the sense at least that some of my least favorite Redskins of all time are still on the team.
At least we'll go five and eleven this year with a team of "good guys", completely free of those divas that contribute to teams winning games.
firstdown 08-03-2011, 11:16 AM Rogers was picked 9th
C.Bailey was picked 7th
Los wasn't even close to the player CB is/was.. I'd consider him a bust
Well hell you could find 100's of picks around number 7 that would show he was not a bust. As far as his ego I always fell WR and CB need that for some reason. I also think that our D's problems last year hurt him as much as anything.
Monkeydad 08-03-2011, 11:16 AM I wish him well...
I don't. I want our WRs to absolutely embarrass him when we play mid-season and don't mind if other teams light him up either.
The 49ers have really had one of the worst offseasons of any team. They needed a QB, so they re-signed Alex Smith for a 5th chance. Maybe Harbaugh can finally get him to succeed, but there were better options out there. They lost a solid NT and CB...and really have not added anyone of real impact, Rogers included. They subtracted a lot more than they added, but they did it without being in cap trouble like Dallas...it's like they're trying to make Jim Harbaugh's job tougher. :D
Also, Crabtree is out 4-6 weeks with a foot injury and Gore wants paid and WAS holding out. If not for the new holdout fines, he'd be neutering that team.
I expect to see Kaepernick under center by the time we play them in Week 9.

So they need a QB and lost a CB and NT. Who does that sound like?

We didn't lose a NT.

CultBrennan59 08-03-2011, 11:34 AM Sad to lose him this way. Josh Wilson is not a capable replacement. It's going to be amusing to see teams go to work on him.
You obviously don't know anything about Josh Wilson, or you're being very sarcastic.
Josh Wilson allowed 46% of the passes thrown his way this past year.
Carlos Rogers allowed 67% of the passes thrown his way, according to profootballfocus.com

I agree that they are taking backwards steps for this year.
But looked at charitably, these might be the first steps in the long process of roster overhaul by the new regime. It is hard to judge a successful long-term turnover by just the first steps.
I'm not saying that they will be successful, just trying to view the 9ers charitably.
Longtimefan 08-03-2011, 11:39 AM Carlos....still talking smack quote: “I didn’t have any plans of going back to Washington,” Rogers told Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan in a phone interview. “I wanted to go elsewhere. I thought it was time for me to move on.”
Rogers was philosophical about his time in Washington and moving on. “You know how Washington is. They’re always big in free agency and not signing their guys back and getting other players.”
