I agree with you. I just don't see us carrying 4 RBs and 2 FBs . Its a numbers game that I'm interested to see where we take it. I think williams will make the team and torain will be the odd man out.

Torain isn't getting cut.

I see it like this:

RB
Torain
Helu
Hightower

FB
Young
Williams

Royster hits the practice squad.

Remember Taylor wore 36 for a while

Oh right. Fair enough. But it was just for his rookie season. He'll always be 21 in my mind.

Remember back to last year: Shanahan doesn't really lie on his initial depth chart. It's fluid, sure, but he's generally sticking to what he has here, no matter how much or little sense this makes.

They'll keep 8 OL, so you're pretty much just looking at 3/5 on that second team. Any 3 out of the five could make it. Locklear and Hicks are the best bets, but it wouldn't be shocking if they get cut. If it comes down to it, I like Maurice Hurt to make it over Erik Cook. They don't need to keep a backup center because both Lichtensteiger and Chester can learn the calls and play inside.

Torain not being listed is...interesting. I know he's injured right now, but even Kelly is on the depth chart.

There's a lot of receiver depth on this team. Think about it this way: if Mike Shanahan were to acquire Eddie Royal from the Broncos tomorrow, he'd be fighting with Leonard Hankerson as the fourth receiver. And he'd probably get cut if he wasn't the primary return man.

The "winners" of this depth chart are Anthony Armstrong and Jabar Gaffney. Both would appear to be roster locks at this point, not a small deal given how crowded the WR position is.

I would not be surprised one bit if this happened. I predicted that torain will get cut because it seems like Shanny values depth at the RB position. He wants to rotate guys, and I predict that Torain will be injured half the season, and Shanny doesn't want to have a guy taking up a roster spot that is only slightly more effective than a guy that will play twice as many games.

This is a better chart and has the injured listed. The actual PDF version.

The chart is on page 21. It also has a neat breakdown on how everybody on the team was acquired.

not gonna give you any more crap than you've already got lol so what he doesn't follow the redskins as closely as many of us do. its not like you here any of the stuff he doesn't know about on (what is most peoples source of sports news) ESPN. and like many of us, he is too lazy to read through other threads.

anyways, Torain better not get cut, ill go bananas if he does. at this point i'm ready to take on his injury risks, he's the best pure runner we have.

i'd like Chris Horton gets more of a shot. i thought two seasons ago he played better than doughty did, and in living in LA i got to see him play pretty damn well at UCLA.

lastly i hope we find a spot on the roster for Banks. he's is what we don't have many of on this team and that's a play maker. His return ability can win many games for us. the bears were at their peak when hester was at his. they've had many comparable rosters since, but hester hasn't made nearly as much of an impact since then & they havn't played at that level either.

I'm also pretty confident they'll have just two QBs after cutdown day. I mean, I think Kellen Clemens is here for the long haul, and if John Beck is going to be inactive for most of the year, you need to then put the third QB on the roster, but unless they're going to break with more than 25 offensive players, I think its two QBs into week one.

The fact that Chappel should pass through effortlessly to the practice squad just makes things easier.

If we only carry two quarterbacks, who gets cut? Beck? Or Grossman?

I don't see either one of those guys getting cut, and they like Kellen too, and Kellen's been looking good in practice.

it would be ideal to carry 2 QB's. but i see us keeping all three (beck, grossman, & kellen)
