mlmpetert 08-17-2011, 01:55 PM This booster guy looked like he graduated from Douchebag U as well. What a slimeball, running a ponzi scheme cheating people outta cash and then using that money to cheat kids, college football and fans. Good lord, this guy needs a national honor for the highest level POS. I mean Miami deserves a ton of blame, but this guy is a real piece of work, he was seriously gettin off doing this stuff.
Complete piece of shit
ArtMonkDrillz 08-17-2011, 02:17 PM Damn, some of these bounties are really going to cause some extra problems for the U.

I mean I know it's against the rules for the players to be treated to dinners and parties and use of a private boat, but I have to imagine the the NCAA is really going to come down extra hard if it can prove that they got $500 for an excessive celebration penalty or $1,000 bucks for a personal foul.

I was suprised to see names like Jon Beason on the list. I always thought he was a good kid. I can give a pass for things like taking advantage of the dude's money, going to the club on his dime, etc. But playing harder to get a bounty on opposing players is unforgivable. And I say that knowing full well that Sean Taylor took advantage of it too.
CultBrennan59 08-17-2011, 04:52 PM There F*cked. Plan and simple. SMU had less allegations than them, and less people that they dealt with. Rocky McIntosh, Sean Taylor, maybe Santana, maybe Clinton had to do with some of his dealings. Now I think they'll get the same thing USC got, but a little more worse, but not as bad as what SMU got, because, the NCAA realized how lopsided it was that they messed with SMU's program for a long, long time, and quiet frankly SMU still hasn't recovered from that death penalty.

"Dee, Miami's AD during most of the period covering Shapiro's allegations, is retired and no longer under NCAA jurisdiction. Still, it seems only fair he should spend a day at USC's Heritage Hall wearing a sandwich board with the word 'Hypocrite.'"
Bravo, Mr. Mandel.

Some people are saying that Miami should avoid the "death penalty." I say why? It's one thing if players are sneaking benefits behind the back of coaches and administrators. It's another thing when multiple sports with not only players but numerous coaches and even the PRESIDENT of the University taking money (see Donna Shahala's pic (http://sports.yahoo.com/investigations/news?slug=dw-why_miami_is_in_trouble_081611) accepting a $50K check from Shapiro) from this sleazeball...
My point is, it's not just the players who are at fault, it's the coaches and head administrators at The U who not only looked the other way, but reaped the benefits as well. That program should go the way of the DoDo.
The NCAA has an epidemic on their hands. They need to put their foot down. This is one of the more disgraceful stories I can ever remember reading.

Punish Miami now, then gradually hit every SEC school one by one? Or should we actually solve the institutional problem that is the NCAA is completely useless as a force for positive change.
That Guy 08-18-2011, 12:10 AM i agree. nuke it. inell the players, ban the coaches, kill the program.

idealy, those that don't take the warning and clean up immediately should get ban hammered.
If the NCAA wants to fix how it does business, that's fine, but if you never start enforcing your rules, then no one is ever going to follow them.
