Some folks here live in a fantasy world as to what things cost.
No, just some folks here have higher priorities and a limited bank account.

MTK 08-19-2011, 04:07 PM That link says that the Directv deal ends after the 2014-15 season so there will be no change until at least then. Sadness. Do you already have DirecTV now? If not the Ticket is included this year for new customers. SmootSmack 08-19-2011, 04:18 PM I will more than likely have to do that if I move to NC (Panther country.) You're moving to NC? I would love to be back in DC and get to watch my Skins whenever at no cost mredskins 08-19-2011, 04:19 PM No, just some folks here have higher priorities and a limited bank account. I get it, I personally could not afford it this year (3 year old and newborn + daycare) but that doesn't mean it should be cheaper because I can't afford it. skinsguy 08-19-2011, 04:22 PM You're moving to NC? I would love to be back in DC and get to watch my Skins whenever at no cost Yeah, although I'm not moving too far into NC. Just the Greensboro area. That is where my girlfriend lives and we plan on getting married next year. I do know they did show Redskins games on their local FOX station, but I think if the Panthers are playing at the same time, they show the Panthers instead. skinsguy 08-19-2011, 04:27 PM I get it, I personally could not afford it this year (3 year old and newborn + daycare) but that doesn't mean it should be cheaper because I can't afford it. As long as DirecTV is getting enough profit from their regular subscribers of the Sunday Ticket, then I agree, there is no need to lower the price. However, if that starts dropping off and/or their competitors get the opportunity to start caring it as well, then it's possible that the price could drop. Then again, that might put some strain on the local stations that carry the NFL. Lotus 08-19-2011, 04:27 PM Do you already have DirecTV now? If not the Ticket is included this year for new customers. I know about the free-for-switchers thing and I have been tempted. But I look at the Ticket as a long-term thing, not just a free-this-season thing. I figure that once I have the Ticket, it will be hard to go back. So the question is, maybe it's free this year, but what about next year and the year after? Can I afford it then? And if I could muster the discipline to have it for only one year, I'd want it to be a year when we are really good so it is worth watching. Plus Directv does not offer local channels in my area so I would have to pay for local channel cable service. This makes the price tag higher than free or $335 for me. mredskins 08-19-2011, 04:34 PM I know about the free-for-switchers thing and I have been tempted. I have already agreed to family outings and stuff during Skins games this year knowing this will probably be a down year. Plus with my son at his age now (3) it is kind of hard to want to do anything but spend time with him and he won't sit through a whole football game, especially in September when it is still nice out. Once you have it, it's hard to imagine going without it. Just to note with the local channels, you can pick them up with a good ol' over the air antenna, in HD too. They can install it at the same time when they put in the dish. Lotus 08-19-2011, 05:04 PM I hear ya. Once you have it, it's hard to imagine going without it. I can't get a good Fox signal OTA and CBS is dicey. Not the right channels to not get if you are an NFL fan. If I want Fox, I need cable or Dish Network. |
