Our starters were not played for a longer period than the Steelers for some.....BS false sense of security. The Skins have made wholesale changes over much of the team with many occurring in the projected starting ranks. There is much to be seen and just trying to get them some semi-legit game time playing together for familiarity sake.
The Steelers on the other hand made few changes to their projected starting line-up and much less to be gained by playing their starters longer.
What I took from our first games was our starters played better then theirs and then our 2nd and 3rd teamers, etc... out palyed them as well. If they do the same tonight then its starting to tell me we are well coached across the board and moving in the right direction.

And I'm sure if we come out tonight and tee off on Curtis freaking Painter we'll have Skins fans in droves predicting a 12 win season.
Yeah, people need to realize that the Colts really don't try that much during preseason. I take more out of that one series against the Pittsburgh first-teamers than anything we do against the Colts tonight. Although, I would like to see the Skins do well.
I never said the Redskins played their starters longer to create that illusion. I just gave that as an example where one team plays its starters much longer than the other team and the Redskins fans went nuts on the radio Monday talking about how great we are now. It happens every year.
"While the bad teams feel like they have something to prove and really try hard to win them all. They play their starters longer and thus against the other teams scrubs, so they have a false sense of improvement. Kind of like last week where we played our starters the entire first half and the Steelers starters only played the first series or two".

I don't think it's about trying to prove any point. The Steelers have essentially the exact same team together this year that won the AFC last year. No need to leave starters in the game very long, especially in preseason game 1.
For the Skins, we have so many new, young faces, we need to leave guys out there to see what they've got. The Steelers don't need that sort of live game action evaluation like we do.

absolutely right, it must be pretty much the same thing every year because we're excited to have football again, and maybe this year with all the offseason drama and changes in the team people are going even more crazy

Tonight's the night Redskins Nation wakes up to the awesomeness that is Kellen Clemens.
But really though, I think we're going to win by two TDs tonight...and it won't really mean a thing
