Report: Shots Fired on Virginia Tech Campus

On 12/07/11 at approximately 11:25 hours officers from the Radford City Police Department responded to the rental office of Gilbert Real Estate on the 600 Block of Calhoun Street in reference to a robbery. Once on scene, officers located employees of Gilbert Real Estate who stated a male had entered the premises armed with a black in color hand gun.

The suspect demanded keys to a staff member’s vehicle when he left the premises. The vehicle is a 2011 white in color Mercedes SUV with Virginia tag # KLF-6778. The offender is described as a college age white male, wearing dark colored clothes and a dark colored baseball style cap.

This subject is believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information in regards to this incident should contact the Radford City Police Department at (540) 731-3627. If you encounter this vehicle please call 911 immediately.

There was a temporary lockdown last year I recall because of reports of someone with a gun

They were on lockdown back in August too.

There was an incident not too long ago where a student was be-headed in one of the dining halls I believe. I think that happened maybe a year after the big shooting. My heart goes out to VT. They have really been through it.

Not sure. He could have easily changed clothes I guess. They didn't really say what vehicle the shooter at tech was driving at the time of the incident.

I heard one report say they were looking for a red firebird...but who knows for sure

So he shot the officer and then shot and killed himself?

Seems like it. I guess they exchanged gunfire (I'm totally speculating) and he made it as far as the parking lot? That or it was self inflicted.

Either that or the cop shot him as well and he died of the wounds.
