Scud's Studs (Week 15 @ Giants)CultBrennan59 12-19-2011, 10:21 AM Everyone on the Skins played Great yesterday; they're all studs in my book this week. over the mountain 12-19-2011, 11:15 AM Sweep of the giants is about the best thing we could have walked away with this season. Fletch had his nose in alot of plays. On the Atogwe int, it was nice to see him still be able to go down the field and stick with a TE or WR on a seam route. Hopefully he can do it next year too b/c i dont think we have anyone in house who could replace what he does. Liked the playcalling. weve started a game going deep early before. even if it doesnt hit i suppose the philosophy is that it stretches the field and opens up room for the run game. Also there seems to be a good bit more of trick/gadget plays. banks ot moss last week, then the end arounds and misdirect handoffs to the FB. I guess MS and KS wanted to keep some big play potential trick plays under wraps until the second half of the season ostensibly with the hope that games late in season would matter to us. I would like to see rakpo and kerrigan moved around the LOS more. I dont see enough disguised blitzing from our 3-4 yet, seems our blitzes are basic overloads or 1 man off the edge type stuff. the sacks at the end were nice stocking stuffers. Nice to see all them giants fans filing out of their stadium with more than 8 mintues to go! firstdown 12-19-2011, 11:31 AM Our secondary had their best game of the season, 3 ints to go along with a pretty impressive 10 pass defended. Whats more impressive ia that they did it without much of a pass rush for the first 3 qtrs. GTripp0012 12-19-2011, 11:34 AM It's funny how these no names at tackle play better than the high draft pick and the over paid free agent that we gave up draft picks for. Take notice front office and coachng staff.Well, we're a zone running team that didn't even get 2 yards per carry to the outside of the defense, so I don't know how well we actually played at the tackles. But the protection was pretty good. The Goat 12-19-2011, 12:33 PM Glad someone finally mentioned London Fletcher who was everywhere on defense today. Outstanding game... Troy and Joe commented several times throughout the game about London's tremendous season and career. I think he's got the most tackles in the league at this point. He should get to the PB again IMO. I really hope he re-signs with us and, for his sake as much as anything, the team improves markedly so he can finish his career winning more than not. The Goat 12-19-2011, 12:36 PM Overshadowed by Gaffney, Stallworth made key plays as well. Got a bad spot in the first quarter on third and long (4th down conversion by Gaffney). That was a hell of a catch and run by Stallworth. I like him quite a lot, in fact I don't think our WR corp is as lacking as some say. If Hankerson can pick up where he left off we've got several go to guys just not a marquee WR type... Bucket 12-19-2011, 01:01 PM Man.. How the air changes after a big win. 12thMan 12-19-2011, 01:06 PM #1- Where is Giantone? #2- Rex will be here next year. #3- other teams on the QB list won also, heck the Colts won. #4- although great game, nice sweep, we fans are desperate for any kind of win. I agree, I would be surprised if Rex isn't here next year. I'll go as far to say even if we draft one of the top three QB prospects, Rex will head into camp as the starting QB. CrazyCanuck 12-19-2011, 01:22 PM GREAT WIN!! Proud to be a fan today. The entire team deserves stud status. I will give a special stud to the secondary. Easily their best game of the year. Even Westbrook looked great back there. SBXVII 12-19-2011, 01:51 PM I agree, I would be surprised if Rex isn't here next year. I'll go as far to say even if we draft one of the top three QB prospects, Rex will head into camp as the starting QB. Yeah, thats my point. Unless the Rookie QB comes in and works with KS all summer long I have to imagine he won't know the whole playbook. The majority of the rest of the team will be ready for whatever he calls but its still a matter of what the new guy can retain. I too would guess Rex starts next season until the new QB understands the play book better and see's how the scheme is supposed to flow. Sad thing is Rex seems to stall the flow of the game with his INT's. The first deep pass would have been if nothing else a nice gain if Rex had the arm to go deeper. I wonder though how much is it he under throws on purpose so he doesn't over throw the WR? Wasn't it last week he threw a a 50 yarder or so it seemed to AA in the endzone? Could it be the WR's and QB are still not on page with each other and Rex is miss judging their speed and when he's supposed to deliver the ball to the specific yard line he's late with his throw? |
