"There are three things I like about being on an Italian cruise ship. First, their cuisine is unsurpassed. Second, their service is superb. And then, in time of emergency, there is none of this nonsense about women and children first."

– Winston Churchill

Ahead of his time, FACT!

Ohhh, I see. It's cool. He TRIPPED and fell into the lifeboat, that's why he left the ship.

Costa Concordia Captain Francesco Schettino: I only left because I FELL into lifeboat | Mail Online (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2087704/Costa-Concordia-Captain-Francesco-Schettino-I-left-I-FELL-lifeboat.html)

Well....in all fairness that does make some sense. That must have been what happened when he got to town. He tripped and fell into a taxi that was leaving town........

Same cruise line as Concordia. This is one of the most upsetting things ive read in a while. Definitely 10x worse than the captin that abandoned his ship out of fear in my opinion.

THis quote from the article above is just priceless.

She was told that the captain reported passing through a fishing fleet. She said a customer relations representative told her that the Star Princess contacted the boat and “that they were asking the ship to move to the west, because they didn’t want their nets to be damaged. And that the ship altered course. And they were waving their shirts because they were thanking the ship.”

Almost as comical as the other captain saying he tripped and fell into the lifeboat. Some people really don't deserve to live. They should get the captain and anybody trying to cover this up, put them in a lifeboat and put them out in the middle of the ocean. A just reward indeed.

I read about that last night. It's pathetic the way people in positions of authority on cruise liners act sometimes. And I think both situations (the cruise liner sinking and now this cruise liner ignoring pleas for help) are equally pathetic.

Yeah, the bit about the customer relations story was the kicker for me. Absolutely despicable.

How could someone, knowing they have a clear and safe way of saving someone's life, just let them die?

Its one thing when people don't help someone who is in a fight (because they don't want to get hurt), but there was little risk here.
