Glad you got it taken care of. Usually it takes a few days to adjust to a new prescription, but not like you were experiencing...

I was 6 when I got my first pair of glasses, and I bounce between glasses and contacts now. My prescription leveled out several years ago, which is nice because I'm blind as bat without them. I get lazy in the winter and usually just wear my glasses, but during the warmer months I'm usually always in my contacts.

My wife wants to do laser eye surgery, but I can't get comfortable with the process and the recovery afterwards...at least not yet.

For those thinking of laser surgery on their eyes this is a great 101 on what they do during the surgery. It really calmed my nerves about the whole process. I have a similar video on vasectomies for those looking to go that path as well.

I wear glasses. Little square black rimmed ones, though I haven't achieved the black hipster look I was aiming for. Blahhhh. Instead I just look like a gamer nerd. I'll take that achievement though.

Eh. A look is a look, and everybody has their own one. I'd rather look like a nerd than a hipster. As long as you don't dress like a nerd to complete the look it's all good.

i finally did it. overcame a massive fear, and got contacts. i compare this to the time i held a snake, i hate snakes.

it took the doctor about 10 minutes to get them in my eyes.
then it took me about 20 minutes to get them out of my eyes.
took me 45 minutes to get one in.
after about another 30 minutes they told me i had to stop trying to get the other in, my eye was too irritated.
then it took me about 15 minutes to remove the one i had gotten in.

the next day i tried for about 20 minutes w no success.

fast forward 2 days, and i finally got both in after about 15 minutes.

a week later and i'm a pro.

does anyone else wear them? did you have as much trouble?

I've had them since I was 18. I remember it taking some time to get the hang of them at first. It's a little weird to get used to sticking your finger in your eye.

you can say that again.

the part i'm most excited about is wearing my ray-bans again. i hadn't worn them in months. the sun is only shining for about the last 30 minutes of my morning commute, and not at all in my evening commute. but i'm happy

I tried to get contacts in high school but couldn't get the hang of them so I gave up since I didn't wear glasses all that often anyway. Then in college I started wearing glasses full time, so I eventually moved to contacts.

It took me some time to figure them out but once I found my own method (I basically just pull down my bottom eyelid with my left index finger and put them in with the right while leaving my top eyelid alone) it was no big deal.
