Ruhskins 04-06-2012, 04:55 PM Apparently the Redskins made Madieu Williams an offer...
John Keim @john_keim
heard on S Madieu Williams: Did receive an offer from the #Redskins; has another visit Monday he wants to keep.
ethat001 04-07-2012, 12:06 AM No crystal ball here, but suppose this means we're looking for an RT with the 3rd round pick? If Fletch is back at ILB, Williams as a possible safety, Cedric / Merriweather -- seems like RT is the glaring unmet immediate need. Unfortunately a 3rd (or later) round rookie may not start this year anyway, so I hope we are able to get a viable solution more reliable than Yoga Brown..
We know Shanahan's great at picking late-round O-line gems, so with 6 late-round picks, I hope he can work some magic.

According to a report from The National Football Post (http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Report-Redskins-offer-contract-to-Madieu-Williams.html), the Washington Redskins (http://www.hogshaven.com/) have offered a contract to the San Francisco 49ers' free agent safety Madiew Williams. The 30 year old safety played his 8th season in the league for the 49ers in 2012 after two longer stints with the Vikings (http://www.dailynorseman.com/) and the Bengals (http://www.cincyjungle.com/). Williams played in 15 games for the 49ers but did not see heavy rotation, and he registered only 9 tackles, significantly fewer than in previous years.
The terms of the Redskins offer to Wiliams are unknown at this time. The 49ers defensive backfield has already seen some action this offseason: the team parted ways with Reggie Smith (http://www.ninersnation.com/2012/4/4/2925147/reggie-smith-signs-with-carolina-panthers), who signed with the Carolina Panthers (http://www.catscratchreader.com/), and they applied the franchise tag to Dashon Golson (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/19078/dashon-goldson). With depth at safety a concern for the team (http://www.ninersnation.com/2012/3/20/2887530/2012-49ers-roster-depth-chart-safety-dashon-goldson-cj-spillman), if Williams leaves for Washington the team would likely be looking for safety help in the upcoming draft.

I like Westbrook. I always favor the underrated players. He was the hero of the Arizona game when he recovered that fumble to secure a win. While I personally think that he'd be a better safety than a CB, he's a most excellent special teams player. I would definitely like to see him back in 2012.
The Goat 04-09-2012, 12:06 AM Our secondary is underwhelming, to say the least. I don't know that we can hope to see any improvement over last year apart from, wait for it Tripp, significantly better play from Hall. I'm never certain of anything about Hall, except the fact he's got potential to be elite because he's shown (brief) flashes of brilliance. Seeing as how the offense hasn't had a bona fied star while Hall's been a "star" on defense, maybe the automatic attention toward Griffin has Hall preparing for his best season ever? ;)

This is the precise reason Raheem Morris was hired as defensive backs coach. The front seven played hard nosed football all year last season. But the secondary was weak. Injuries to Atogwe and Landry made it possible for reserve safeties Gomes and Doughty to start and receive playing time. Also, Josh Morgan played well all year but came on strong towards the end of last season. DeAngelo Hall did play well at times, but struggled against elite wide receivers and revealed once again that he can only play his best football when he's not covering elite receivers. Had it not been for the secondary, the defense would have finished within the top ten in the league. Hopefully the addition of Morris will assist greatly in limiting passing yards.

Josh Wilson but yeah
Chico23231 04-09-2012, 08:55 AM Josh Wilson but yeah
Wilson played terrible at the beginning of the season, got better as the season went on. Im hoping we see improvement from him.
Counter-Tre 04-10-2012, 12:13 AM We finally signed a free agent o-lineman. Anyone know anything about this guy?
The Redskins also announced the signing of free agent offensive tackle James Lee. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Lee has spent the last four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The South Carolina State product started nine games for the Bucs in 2010. Last season, he appeared in three games for Tampa Bay, starting one.
