I am pretty sure (w/out checking cap ramifications) that this is Hall's last year with us. Maybe he sticks around b/c of his contract numbers or b/c he's fine as the 3rd corner. I just think next year's target is a true number 1 corner. I think Hall and Wilson are fine matching up on the opponents WR2 or slot guy, but, it seems to me, they will always need help against all but the most pedestrian WR1's.

Hall playing for his next contract might be exactly what we need...

Yeah, I'm shocked Atogwe has not signed anywhere. He has visited some teams (Jets, Lions, Vikings), but no deal. No news on him at all for a month now.
I'd bring him back for a cheap price, since he can't seem to stay healthy.
We're suddenly decent at safety, at least we have a lot of good depth...and Doughty. If Barnes moves to FS, we're deep.
NOW our big defensive weakness is CB depth. Hall and Wilson are quality starters but we have no one behind them.
Teams more than likely view Atogwe as injury prone. He is as good as anybody when he's healthy, but teams have to take into consideration that he lost his starting job last season in Washington in addition to his injuries.
If the Redskins bring him back, it will probably be for a one year deal and for very cheap at that. With the additions of so many safeties within the past month, I can see the Redskins bringing back Atogwe only if there's an injury to one of the Redskins free safeties since he already knows the schemes on defense.
Besides Josh Wilson and DeAngelo Hall at CB, who do the Redskins have? Byron Westbrook hasn't been re-signed yet. Brandyn Thompson has potential but he was on and off of the practice squad all last season. But despite that, I'm looking for him to develop into a nickle CB if Barnes does move permanently to safety. I'm looking for the Redskins to draft a corner back. Leigh Torrence is an extra body, but he's a dime back at best.

CB play on our team will depend a lot on a.) the way that our safeties work out and b.) how well our offense will play. I do believe there needs to be more consistency from the CBs, but I think having some consistent safety play will help.
Unless something drastically changes, secondary is going to be our weakness this season. However, this weakness can be easily compensated if you have a solid pass rush and a good offense (see NY Giants).
I see the secondary as one of our most glarring issues too. Ive speculated on this before, but it looks like the Bucs are shopping Talib:

Allen drafted him and Raheem Morris coached him. I feel like if anyone is willing to give up a pick for him it will be us. Im guessing a something a 6th or a 7th could get him. Not sure if he can stay out of trouble or not, but if any NFL coach would know it would probably be Morris.

I'm sure Morris could work with him but as has been said he might be facing jail time and or suspensions as a result of all his problems with the law. I wouldn't give more than a 7th for him.

With Raheem Morris here, I could see us getting Talib. I was a big fan of his game coming out of Kansas but the guy has become a piece of trash OFF the field. I'm not sure we want to start loading up on players fit for Dallas, Pittsburgh or Cincinnati's standards.

Yep, late-June trial for felony assault.
No team is going to touch him until after that.

@EQ- When i was reading about the case way back, i remember it being all pretty circumstantial, he said she said stuff. I dont even think they ever tested him for gun powered residue or anything. And im pretty certain his mom is going to take the fall for him (straight up thug style). Id be more worried about a suspension or a suspension from any slight slip up. Maybe if his mom goes to jail it will straighten him up. But maybe if his mom goes to jail he'll be more indebted to his troubled family.

This is far from the first time he's had a run-in with the law...and league.
