mredskins 11-02-2012, 07:08 PM Does that mean that Princess Leia is now is now a Disney Princess add best buds with Jasmine?
That is funny i wonder if she is now considered a Disney princess.
HailGreen28 11-02-2012, 08:49 PM Man I just remember the hair on the back of my neck and my inner-jedi/nerd coming out when he pressed the button for the 2nd half of the lightsaber to come out and it was like "Oh Shit theres 2 of them!!" ahhhh soooo goood!!! (0:24)
Not gonna lie, but I actually liked Darth Maul better than young darth vader. Count Dooku was cool with his curved lightsaber. The Old darth vader was cool as a villian, and is considered the all time greatest villian, but he couldn't entertain a lightsaber fight/move around like Darth Maul could.I think the original trilogy lightsabre fights are more entertaining like This Guy (http://redlettermedia.com/plinkett/star-wars/star-wars-episode-1-the-phantom-menace/) says, even though some of his humor is... not sure how to put it.
The original trilogy lightsaber duels have more going on with them. In the first movie, Vader wasn't just trying to kill Obi-Wan, but prove he had replaced Obi Wan as master. Obi-Wan tried to be a distraction to let Luke and his comrades escape with the Death Star plans. Both fail: Obi Wan surpassed Vader by becoming one with the Force. And Vader WANTED the good guys to escape and go straight to the Rebel's hidden base.
Second movie, Vader was toying with Luke, trying to corner and convert Luke rather than kill him. Luke was trying to save his friends and avenge Obi Wan. Again, the fight didn't turn out the way either hoped. Vader lost Luke. Luke got his *** kicked, while his friends made their own escape and rescued HIM.
Third movie, Luke tries to save Vader and beat the Emperor. Not sure what Vader was doing other being forced to duel by the Emperor. The Emperor wanted Luke turned to the Dark Side and taking his father's place. Luke wins this fight, with Vader's help.
Compare that to the prequel fights. First movie, Maul tries to lead the Jedi away and separate them, so he can kill them and stop Amidala and company. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan try to beat Maul. There's just not the same emotional investment in this fight, nor the others, IMO. The last duel in the prequels, between Obi-Wan and Anakin, just wasn't as compelling to me.
/geek mode off. :)

Dawg I don't care what anyone says; the lightsabre battles in the prequel are brilliant and are cooler than any from the classic.
If emotions and story told within a battle is important than Revenge of the Sith is the best ever. It had all the aforementioned qualities and bad ass action.

The duels in the OT are less acrobatic because they are between an old geezer who wants to die (obiwan), a guy whos more clunky robot than human (darth vader), and a young man who's just learning (luke). I'm not going to lie though - as great as the OT are from a story perspective, they look terribly dated. When i want to watch a star wars movie, i watch AOTC or ROTS.
skinsguy 11-27-2012, 03:10 PM I am excited, especially since we've seen how good of a job Disney has done with the Marvel movies. Star Wars will always be a huge staple of my childhood, so for the franchise to last on, past Lucas and into the future, would be awesome if they are done right. I was disappointed a little in Episode I, but basically accepted it as the movie to set up the rest of the Episodes. Still, to think that there are more Star Wars movies on the way is cool with me!
Not only that, but maybe a resurrection with the Indiana Jones franchise as well. The last one was OK until they introduced aliens into it, and that kind of ruined Indy for me.

After climbing towers after each other, swinging on ropes, and jumping on moving platforms, a small mound was the key to victory?
"And they have those flashlight thingies, and Jedi powers of mind control, and they can move things, so they're telekinetic, and they hover on their jet saucers over molten lava, so they can jump and fly around like they're in Cirque du Soleil. But what gives one Jedi knight the edge over the other, huh? The ultimate advantage? They stand on a mound of dirt and declare, 'You can't win; I've got the high ground.' He's four feet up a little slope, and that wipes out all the other guy's powers to fly, jump around, move things around with his brain, use his flashlight thingy?
