If Shanny's Not Your Man, Then What Is Your Plan?

Ok well if thats the case, then all I have to say is that our 'college offense' will only work for so long, until the nfl stops it, which should be soon. Because gimmick offenses typically start to die down by the midway point of the season. Theres a reason the option isn't in the nfl.

Personally I think the option will never work.. The pitch option that is. I don't think the draw option with the pass or run to Morris will be stopped as easily as people think.

I don't think that part of the offense is gimmick. I think the Shanahans did a good job on installing that type of offense for RG3, and it's been super effective against everyone. Unless WR's are dropping passes of course.

The Redskins organization isn't bad. Just unfortunate. It's frustrating considering what could have been. The Redskins could be in the NFC east division lead if not for the defense breaking down and giving up a number of leads this year. I'm proud of what our offense has accomplished the first half of the season.

Realistically, the Redskins are a season away from prime time and could still compete if we are able turn the season around and enter the playoffs.

If you aren't qualified to figure out the solution, what on earth makes you qualified to point out the problem?

When your pipes are leaking you know there is a problem. What do you do? You call a plumber.

He will, some of are just dreaming. Shanahan needs to do changes fire Smith and Haslett.

But why change gears in the middle of the rebuilding phase? Isn't continuity more important, just IF for the sake of continuity? If we shouldn't fire the HC, why fire the ST and DC who has direct oversight over their respective squads? Shouldn't they be also given 5 years to rebuild? Aren't things automatically going to get better with time? If MS brought those two coaches on in the first place, who in the hell thinks he can find someone better to replace them with if you have absolutely no talent or high draft pix to work with?

Just some questions.

Here is the thing NCSkins. Its not that we know all of the coaching talent in college, retired, between jobs, coordinators. Most of us don't, so that would be pure speculation. All that the haters are doing is pointing out that there has to be something better. Or look at it like this.

You see out of your rearview mirror tons of white smoke is coming out of your cars tailpipe and hear a rattling noise. That doesn't mean you know how to rebuild an engine, but you definitely are qualified enough to appreciate the fact that there is an issue somewhere in the car, and think a more capable mechanic should maybe come to your house and fix the issue before it completely screws the rest of your car beyond repair. I think that kind of applies here. Just because we cannot give specific stud replacement names, reasons, rationales and plans for scheme, draft, free agency, front office stuff, etc........ does not take away from the validity of our arguments. And pointing out that since we haven't come in here and do anything but speculate on how to build a team doesn't mean we don't know (again, just OHO) that this team isn't looking too hot right about now.

Haslett was a bad hire from the beginning, Smith's ST always have some kind of issue. My main beef is with Haslett's lack of adjustments with or without injuries, talent,etc.

If you are one of the 'Fire Shanahan' proponents, what is your SPECIFIC plan to get this team back on the right path?

Who would you have picking personnel?
Who would you hire as head coach?
What offensive system would you want in place and who (OC) will run it?
What defensive system would you want in place and who (DC) will run it?
Who are your building block players for the systems you recommend?

This is a kewl thread thanks to the mods for letting discussion roll.

1) I'm good with whoever BA chooses. BA is the top guy, no question.

2) Would prefer a certain profile e.g. previous HC coaching experience who showed/shows real promise but was possibly in a bad situation or just in over his head the first time around but he's matured. Next best a coordinator (w/o HC experience) who's tearing it up. Kyle is NOT on this list, hombres. Last, if any of Payton, Cowher or Gruden are interested I'd definitely talk w/ them.

3) Pro style offense (lose the read option save four or five times per year) similar to the Packers, Giants or Bengals. Offer one of those guys more money and grab their best pupil.

4) Unless a top shelf nose tackle can be got we switch back to the 4-3, otherwise the best we'll ever be is middle of the pack (like last year) and most of the time we'll suck like we do now. Ummmm can we have Gregg Williams back? I'd take him as HC or DC btw. If somehow we stick with the 3-4 I'd get Jason Garret.

5) The offense retains it's roster with the exceptions of Polumbus (cut and replaced by best FA or higher draft pick) and Banks (gone for good). Line stays the same otherwise. RB corp stays the same. WR stays the same, and you sit down with Tana and renegotiate the contract. TE is hopefully Davis, Paulsen/Cooley, Paul (SP)
Defense (probably a 4-3) adds as much talent in the secondary as possible. We can make due with our current dline and LB corp in a 4-3, in fact there will be fewer players wrong for the 4-3 as there currently are for the 3-4.

I think we're four good players total away from overall solid talent (if we go to the 4-3) and five good ones total away if we stick with the 3-4. Where the hell you gonna find that monster NT anyway?

With the above, I think we have the talent to go at least 8-8 (don't forget how good RG3 is) within two years. That's with average coaching. Better coaching gets us into the playoffs within two years, and you give this HC five years minimum no matter what. Elite coaching makes you a SB contender within three years, and looking at a possible legacy.
