Had almost the exact same scenario happen to me at the jumpers hole movie theater in pasadena also while in high school. Only difference was we were smoking a joint.this wasn't really scary but i was waiting outside a movie theater in columbia, waiting to get picked up by parents (probably 15 years old or so) after the movie. was w a group of friends, some guy in another group started talking shit, i turned around to look for a second, gave a look like "not interested" and turned back towards my friends. a couple seconds later i got "shoved" and, w the momentum, headbutted my good friend in his nose. when i turned around, one of my female friends slapped him in the face and he took a swing at her. i lifted her out of the way and went in for the kill.
he and his friends turned and ran.
it turns out he didn't shove me, but threw a haymaker into the back of my head.

Just remembered one that probably should have scared me more but didn't for some reason.

In college, I was getting ready to cross the street to class. I was a bit distracted b/c I had an exam or something. Saw on coming traffic and distractedly realized "oops, need to stop" at the last second. I tripped over my own feet stumbled into the traffic lane and fell to the ground. I hear screeching and feel the tire on the back of my head as it stops. The tire hit my head just as it was stopping, the last inch or so of wheel turn caused my head to got tight to the pavement.

Guy who hit me was sure I was dead - so were the two or three bystanders. I, on the other hand was like, "man, I need to get to class - sorry for falling in front of your car." I grabbed my stuff and was on my way in about a minute.

As a kicker, it happened on the day John Belushi died.

Edit: my nickname was going to be "punch you in the eye"

great show, another part to that story was i got pulled into Madison Square Garden security office getting into the show because they thought me and my buddy's ticket were fake. Of course those shrooms had been eating by then. We made it into the show somehow.

Mooby that story sucks. Of course it could have been worse, frozen deliverence style.

this was either high school or shortly after.
part 1
had just met some friends at a local shopping center, getting ready to take them for a ride to show off my new subwoofers, was already playing my music kind of loud. car pulls up, 4 people inside. the driver is roughly our age, he yells something i can't understand and spits on my hood. i turn down the music, he yells "follow me". i looked to my pals as to ask, do you feel like a rumble? they all got in, and we followed the car to a side street.
they parked, and i parked about 10-15 yards behind them. as soon as i parked, 2 guys w bandanas over their faces got out the back seat, both brandishing pistols. they were in a hurry to get to my car. i put it in reverse and got the hell out of there. they didn't fire any shots. nobody got hurt.
all we wanted was a good ol' fashioned 4 on 4 rumble.

W...T...F. Why would you follow a group of banditos?

of a different sort. my firstborn son was born a month early and his first APGAR score was excellent but he quickly nose dived and his second APGAR score was the worst. He was rushed to the neo-natal intensive care as his lungs weren't expanding and for three weeks showed no improvement. Then on a Saturday night sitting watching over him the doctor told me that it was highly likely that he wouldn't make it to Sunday night. That counts as the scary part. read the rest for a pretty cool ending.

I cried a lot that night, went to my church in the morning and our pastor said special prayers, I later found out my parents church stopped their service at the same time and said prayers as well. After church I went back to the hospital and the doctor said that his lungs had stabilized within the past hour. I had never (and never since) ever experienced such an overwhelming awe as that moment and when my mom told me about how her pastor just felt the need to stop their service and pray. Mind you, that I was in Colorado Springs, and my parents were in Md, and we werent using cell phones/facebook internet in 1997. He is 15 now and runs a 21 min 5k.

Maybe the best story (I mean real life stuff) ever told on TWP...
