How Many Discussion Boards Do You Belong To?firstdown 04-11-2013, 01:48 PM Only here and at a boating forum. That Guy 04-11-2013, 09:14 PM um, a ton.... actively though? maybe 2-3 at a time. here, some gaming forums, and 4chan when i'm looking for something specific. Lotus 04-11-2013, 09:23 PM Here + lurking in gardening forums when I have a gardening problem, electronics forums when I have an electronics problem, etc. FRPLG 04-12-2013, 12:59 AM Just one that I can think of. But it's filled with a load of ass-hats and goats. Oh wait... skinsguy 04-12-2013, 09:45 AM Just one that I can think of. But it's filled with a load of ass-hats and goats. Oh wait... LOL!;) I remember reading an article not too long ago stating how the discussion forum board was the first social media (although I'd probably say email was) and that it's now extinct due to Facebook. But, like you guys, I STILL surf forums for information, leisure, socializing, etc... much more so than Facebook. I've tried the Facebook "clubs", and other than the class reunion one that is semi-active, I can't stand Facebook clubs. That Guy 04-12-2013, 11:51 AM well, the bbs and then newsgroups came first... then IRC. 4chan is sorta like the old newsgroups and they're very alive and kicking, so is reddit. the only difference there is moderation (up votes). facebook hasn't really killed anything. IRC is pretty dead compared to the 90s though. skinsguy 04-12-2013, 12:00 PM well, the bbs and then newsgroups came first... then IRC. 4chan is sorta like the old newsgroups and they're very alive and kicking, so is reddit. the only difference there is moderation (up votes). facebook hasn't really killed anything. IRC is pretty dead compared to the 90s though. I was thinking more in terms of the first email sent back in the early 70's, but in terms of the 90's internet, yes, BBs and newsgroups came first. I haven't spent much time on 4chan or reddit. Of course, I spend most of my time on the internet at work...much of my time at home is spent knocking out the honey do lists, lol! That Guy 04-12-2013, 03:52 PM BBS's pre-dated the internet ;) or at least widespread commercial internet access. jamf 04-14-2013, 03:32 AM CastRoom - The Casters & Bracers Home - Powered by vBulletin (http://www.castroom.net/forum/) Bishop Hammer 04-23-2013, 05:31 PM A couple of football forums; baking forums; MMA forums; and two comic books forum. |
