Tim Brant said that the Redskins are waiting on results of the physical before they sign Brown. Also this article was just posted http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A45186-2005Mar17.html

OK but if we didn't show a want he may not have felt as if he was really wanted here.

You can show a want without overplaying your hand.

Brown is a player of his word. He said he would go around to all the teams that were intrested and that is what he is doing. Hopefully he will see that the skins are the best option for him and decide to comes on board.A player who wants more ca$h

Good to hear the Skins aren't jumping all over Brown. When I heard they were planning on signing him on Wed. before leaving I was like uh-oh, probably not a good move for a player with an extensive injury history like Brown.

You definitely want to make sure he's not damaged goods, especially since the Browns said he failed a physical before they released him.

This article makes me wonder. Reports have gone from the Skins aren't going to let Brown leave Redskins Park without a contract to he had a a good visit, we're still interested but no signing is imminent.

Are they just being cautious or are they concerned about his injuries, or is his asking price too high? Or I guess it could be a combo of both too.

Noble had some good things to say about him:

"I came by to say hi," Noble said. "I know Courtney. He's a standup guy. He'd fit in well in this locker room. He's had some bad luck with some injuries. I can appreciate that. He's had more than most people deserve. And I think a fresh start would be good. And I'd love to have him do it here.
"I told him that this is a team going in the right direction, and it's a good group of guys. It's fun to come to work. . . . I tried to sell him a little bit on it. We'll see what happens."

One thing about the team's interest in Brown, it has given us some insight into the team. A couple of players, specifically Noble and Daniels make statements about how the locker room is a good place to be, that all the guys like each other, that its fun to come to work, etc. Add this to R. Thomas quotes during the Coles issue questioning how Coles could NOT like playing for Gibbs and you get the picture of players who are buying into the system and (ahem) clearly feel like they are part of a "team" in the truest sense of the word and aren't merely robots being ordered about by a "dictator".

To me, and sorry to bring up the Coles thing again, it really refutes Coles assertions that Gibbs wouldn't listen to the players (Who was the only player Coles cited as supporting him - Gardner. Doh!).

BTW and on topic. I hope we sign Brown just b/c he seems worth a flyer. But, as everyone has already noted, I am glad we didnt' try to blow him away with an over-price offer.

One advantage for Courtney would be the coaching here. We have consistently had a top flight defense. Particularly now, with the Greg(g)'s. Do you think he likes the idea of being rotated in and out though?

Depends on whether he's coming here for the money or not... (If he comes at all)
