Yeah the local media pundits who think every team here is a potential dynasty are already babbling endlessly about how great of a matchup this is for the Wizards, because they beat Chicago two of three times. ???

The two wins were both relatively close, and back in January when the Bulls had just traded Luol Deng and they were 17-19 at the time. Since then the Bulls have gone 31-15 and are a very tough defensive team and very well coached. Plus the last time they played it was embarrassing, like 58-26 at the half for the Bulls.

How can the local media even begin to speak of a potential dynasty? After their first round series with the Bulls in the 90s, Jordan also predicted the same for this team. Since then, Webber was shipped away for the AARP version of Mitch Richmond, the following (and current) genius GM passed on Steph Curry and Ricky Rubio for a one year rental of Randy Foye and Mike Miller and a wild west card game dispute served as the Coup de grāce.

I like the new squad, however... but not ready to crown 'em just yet. Not especially with the old FO regime still in place.

and thats the biggest problem. Still not sold on the Wiz coach.

He's turned them into a pretty decent defensive squad, especially in the fourth quarter... but his rotations and last second play-calling are reminiscent of Eddie Jordan's. Thibs is going to coach circles around Wittman... it's going to come down to Gortat vs. Noah, three point efficiency and not letting the Bulls dictate pace.

That's a great read. Thanks for sharing.

I've had the same conversation all season long. I'm siding towards the optimistic view, but still see us as very flawed. It's sad that we need to get rid of Whitman, 'cause he's put in his time, but I don't see us making the next step with him as coach.

Like to see Grunfield go first myself, Whitman 2nd.

The starting backcourt shooting less than 30% and the Wiz still win convincingly. Dre Miller with clutch minutes to turn the game around. Nene and Gortat were outstanding down low.

Gortat and Nene were certainly the difference in the game.

What do you do in the offseason? Gortat or Ariza? I think I go Gortat and look at a 3 year extention 9 mil per. Ariza is solid this year, but this is his best year in like 4-5 years and it was a contract year...that makes me extremely suspect, especially in basketball.

If you're picking one of the two, I agree- you have to go with the big man. Ariza's been a beast this season with his defense and ridiculous 3 point percentage, but Gortat is been arguably the most important player next to Wall this year. You can't rely on Nene's health each season, so it's pretty important to lock the Polish Hammer up. He may command more than 9 per, but we'll see.
