CRedskinsRule 01-03-2014, 12:17 PM I agree totally.
I know Smoot hates the term "the media", so take my use of it here with the meaning -- Those in media positions who will always try and spin a Skins story negatively.
Our next coach whoever it shall be, needs to be media savvy, there will be plenty of circus like questions until the coach and FO can get a handle on handling the media. In my opinion, this is one of BA's better attributes. He doesn't come out heavy handed, but he does seem to be able to get his message out, while maintaining a positive spin. If the coach is also likeable (ie not nicknamed demon bunny, or ratface) than that would be a giant step forward for this organization. Even the fact that Griffin left without stopping for a media circus may show that he kinda gets it too.
skinsfaninok 01-03-2014, 12:44 PM So I haven't been in the loop this last week , who have we interviewed so far? And who will we?

Great points and I totally agree about BA, he's very savvy. That said if our new HC is a little green I trust BA can manage the situation so it's not everwhelming. I also think a guy who mostly ignores the media would help lol.
FRPLG 01-03-2014, 02:04 PM Washington Redskins coaching search: How good a job is it? - The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redskins/washington-redskins-coaching-search-how-good-a-job-is-it/2014/01/02/8c31e8fc-7403-11e3-bc6b-712d770c3715_story.html)
“I keep reading it’s a bad job,” said Charley Casserly, the former general manager of the Redskins and Texans. “It’s not a bad job. Dan Snyder gave total control to Mike Shanahan. He’s put Bruce [Allen, the team’s GM] in charge now. Bruce is coach-friendly. People won’t mind working with him. There are zero issues with the franchise and that job.”
But in the wake of the scrutiny surrounding Shanahan’s relationships with both Snyder and quarterback Robert Griffin III, Casserly’s view is not universally held.
If there is anyone who would be motivated to crap all over the job you would think it was CC who got run out of town in deference to Norv Turner. The fact that he has his critical thinking cap on and understands how the league works shows that the job isn't terrible. Or even considered as such in league circles.
DynamiteRave 01-03-2014, 02:04 PM So I haven't been in the loop this last week , who have we interviewed so far? And who will we?
Darrell Bevell, Jim Caldwell, Perry Fewell, Sean McDermott... at least that's who have definitely been confirmed to have been interviewed, as per the "Who do you want as a HC thread"
I'm throwing this name/link into the mix. Rich Bisaccia; Cowboys special teams coach.
Report: Rich Bisaccia interviewing for Redskins on Friday | ProFootballTalk (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/03/report-rich-bisaccia-interviewing-for-redskins/)
skinsfaninok 01-03-2014, 02:06 PM U know Caldwell was solid in Indy but that 2-14 year scares me. As for the rest of those guys I guess I'd go with bevelle
Mechanix544 01-03-2014, 09:18 PM The dallas cowboys special teams coach? The one with zero head coaching or coordinating experience? Ummmmmmm, i guess i should say
I FUCKING HOPE NOT?

He has many years' experience as a special teams coordinator.
Mechanix544 01-03-2014, 09:33 PM so, 6 plays a game? Sorry, not gonna spin that into a NFL coordinator. Also, the cowboys special teams were nothing special, and that is one area of the game where scheme and coaching has a TON to do with the product on the field. This guy is just a Bruce Allen Lackey, seems he might be giving tryouts to his friends.
Im just saying, its not often you go from special teams coach to head coach of the third most expensive NFL franchise.
I think this would be a mistake. Worse than Shanny mistake, but that is just my opinion.

I doubt they hire him and I agree I hope not.
