Well is it really on the NASCAR or football level in any country? I went to the Caribbean and talk to the Europeans about sports, it's soccer that seems to have the most passion.

No but I'm sure it's got fans that are passionate about it, that see as something more than a sport that happens every 4 years when the Winter Olympics get together.

I was just talking to my coworkers today about the Winter Olympics, and it felt like as soon as curling came up they were dismissing it as something that shouldn't be an Olympic sport. I hate that. Like just because it's not popular here doesn't mean there aren't people somewhere else in the world that cherish it like we cherish football, or nascar, etc.Better curling than f***ing ballroom dancing and other idiocy in the summer.

Watching the women's slopestyle competition right now, and it's crazy how talented these athletes are. After the Olympics are over I probably won't watch for another 4 years but it's mind boggling to think about how much work these athletes put in to prepare for this moment.

Just what these people do...and the dangers involved is amazing.

No kidding. I was just thinking about what would happen if one of the skiers in the men's downhill wiped out at 80+ mph. Easily could be a near-death situation if that happened. I remember one of the lugers at Vancouver died 4 years ago, that's the ultimate price to pay if something goes wrong. The risks are crazy, but clearly being able to call yourself amongst the best in the world at your sport is worth it.

I'll be super into the hockey; but beyond that just a casual watcher. Really hoping Team USA can repeat what they did in Vancouver 4 years ago; but its a much tougher field (in my opinion) than it was in Vancouver. Gotta pick up at least two wins (Slovakia and Slovania for sure) in the round robin to make sure we crack the tournament.

It is a niche sport here but it is big in Canada. The best even have groupies that follow them around.

Turns out the fail is strong Sochi as theres a whole twitter feed called 'Sochi fails (https://twitter.com/SochiFails)' dedicated to many of the bizarre findings coming out of Russia at the moment. Many of which have to do with wash room arrangements.

Never was one for toilet humor but this was enough to crack me up.

I was planning on watching the us Russia hockey game tonight but thanks to espn making sure to blast the score on the homepage now I don't have to.

Thank you espn for not trying to intentionally ruining the Olympics just bc it is on a different network.
