Slow and steady wins the race when driving on snow/ice. I guess folks who aren't used to it think you have to gun it to go anywhere. That's how you end up off the road or overheating your engine to the point where it blows up lol.

Most around here got the "slow" part down, It's the "and steady" part that seems to confuse so many. I can't tell you how many times I have seen folks come to a stop before making a turn to uphill or start to slip and hit the breaks. Well, thanks. You have just effectively made yourself a roadblock.

We have about 8-10 (I think) lots of drifting making it up at 14-16 inches in places

Assuming you live somewhere in MD, we're supposed to get more in a few hours. Though I don't know how much more in DC, it warmed up a little bit and started to melt.

Then another system Friday night into Saturday.

...Then it's supposed to be in the 60's next week. :Smoker:

We got 14 inches of snow in Columbia, then it started to rain. So it was a race against the rain while shoveling, because I didn't want the snow to get heavier with the rain.

18-20 inches is a good guess. I didn't measure before I started shoveling. The drift between my vehicles was between 3-4 foot tall. Took me about 2.5 hours to clear it all in front of my house (townhouse), clear off the vehicles and the parking spots. Sounds like we'll get another 3-6 inches tonight. As long as I can head down to the shore over the weekend for much needed R&R, I'll gladly move some more if I need to.

We have drought conditions here, just about to go from three to two showers a day. Oh, the humanity!

Ahhhhhhhh shit!!! Montgomery County schools are cancelled tomorrow, meaning the JV county wrestling tournament I was supposed to referee on Saturday is probably going to get bumped for basketball, and they most likely won't reschedule.
There goes about $400.
