diehardskin2982 04-05-2005, 12:08 PM continuity, how do you trully need? I understand not releasing the whole team but at the same time did the eagles think of continuity when they signed TO last year, no. They were looking for a playmaker to get them over that hump.
Thats is what I think we need, a playmaker to get over the hump. Right now I don't think we have it. We should have replaced smoot in the free agency, we didn't. We should of bolstered our line and we didn't, we should have goten an upper escelon wideout, we didn't. Why because we didn't want to pay players as much as in the past. We want to make a statement to the league. Fuck trying to make a statement, the only statement should be "to win at all cost".
Personally I would have signed a corner in FA and do what ever possible in the draft to get the best wide out avialable in the draft period, even if it meant giving up a 1st next year. because if our pick is in the late 20's or 30's next season I don't mind not having it.
with all the teams in our division with a WR at 6'3 or taller, we want have the tough corners to cover them....that's the only thing that concerns me, and that we might be drafting 5'9 pac man jones.....against...Keshawn...T.O and Plaxico.....yeah
Daseal 04-05-2005, 12:48 PM Who's on the other side of Pac-Man assuming we draft him? Sean Springs.
TO - Freddie Mitchell
Plax - Hillard or Toomer (both small)
Keyshawn - Who cares not a big guy.
I think one larger guy and one speed guy works pretty well myself.
Schneed10 04-05-2005, 12:59 PM I think the biggest reason to expect improvement is look at the offense during the first half of the season compared to the offense during the last half. Brunell had a QB rating of 63, and Ramsey's was a much more palatable 80+ if you take out that Giants game in which he came in relief during week 2. You could really see the offense's progression throughout the year. Cooley became a reliable target for Ramsey, the O-line learned how to zone-block on stretch plays for Portis, Gibbs started to mix in Ladell Betts when the situation called for it, and now the biggest thing of all is we get Jansen back. I have hope for the offense. Will it be a juggernaut? I don't think so, but I think we can expect a middle of the pack ranking.
And I still think the D will be good. I don't think it's much of a step down from Smoot to Walt Harris. I'm concerned about finding a brain like Pierce's to play MLB, but overall I think our D will be top 5 again. That should have the makings of a solid squad.
Daseal 04-05-2005, 01:10 PM If you're right about the middle of the pack, and IF our defense doesn't fall off too bad. That could put us in the thick of it.
TheMalcolmConnection 04-05-2005, 02:02 PM Definitely. That's why I keep advocating taking Williams in the first. I think the guy is a natural playmaker and, unlike popular opinion, I think he will make an immediate impact.
BigSKINBauer 04-05-2005, 03:07 PM r we better than last year in my opinion..... yes. but it does seem that others in the division had better offseasons and addressed their needs, namely dallas. I know that bledso is a major upgrade. I mean TESTICLES couldn't throw anything last yr. they got picks early in the draft, and will improve more. We did well but even the giants got better wr w/ plexco and took pierce, we can't compare w/ the eagles so lets not they got draft picks off the wazoo.
I think this adds to the fact that we are in the best division in the league we are rivalled by the broncos, raiders, chiefs, and chargers division but wait we play them too this year so we best be at the top of our game.
TheMalcolmConnection 04-05-2005, 03:10 PM I think other teams had adequate offseasons. I do however, think that Bledsoe is going to flop for Dallas. He loves to throw picks and he can't take a hit. I'm excited to play him.
Daseal...you mean if Springs stays healthy for the whole season.....the league is getting bigger not smaller, and weather pac man is a impact db, he can't be put in situation were he's match against a big WR....I agree with MC...we will be better of getting Williams
TheMalcolmConnection 04-05-2005, 03:33 PM Don't get me wrong though, if Williams isn't available, I would be completely happy with Rolle (especially) or Pac-Man. I think that Williams is one of the few guaranteed playmakers in the draft.
