i think the time to throw the ball away was when he dropped back and didnt see any open receivers .. by the time he scrambled to the outside, it was a TD or bust.

speaking of not seeing an open receiver on that play .... reed lines up in the slot with no one covering him, reed runs a seam and raises his arm to show he is open .... RG3 was started pre-snap looking left, RG3 maintained vision to the left post-snap ...... this is what frustrates receivers.

Washington Redskins quarterback RGIII touchdown call reversed, players angry at call - NFL Videos (http://www.nfl.com/videos/washington-redskins/0ap3000000443375/RGIII-touchdown-call-reversed-players-angry-at-call)

how the fuck does RG3 not see an uncovered Reed pre-snap and not make him his primary read (if he wasnt primary to begin with)?

From your video ,by the time he gets control again he is out of bounds

Once he bobbled it while in the air he was basically a receiver catching the ball (odd rule but it is what it is), so he had to land inbounds with possession. It's kind of like that Calvin Johnson play from a years backBut to my knowledge, the officials have never interpreted the rule that way when a player extends the ball over the goal line with two hands on it.

This is a bad call, like the Calvin Johnson (no TD) call, like the replacement refs call in the GB/Seattle game TD call. Technically correct, but misinterpreted. And those other calls were called bad for what they were. If the refs started calling holding on our OL every play, which they could do to any line, it would be a bad call too. But I guess we are used to just taking it now.

Agree with you, the no TD call was splitting hairs at the stupid level.

Either way it was awesome to see RG look pretty similar to the 2012 version again, it got me pumped and hope to hell Redskins park finds a way to mentor/coach the kid to his potential.

i posted the video in the hopes that we could continue to bash RG3 for missing a wide open receiver .. literally waving his hands in the air.

how does RG3 not see jordan reed lined up in the slot with no one covering him.

its like the giants defenders had a brain fart and totally blew the coverage ... and we didnt even notice.

His arm got jostled if you look at the replay

Ive seen waitresses get jostled harder than that and hold their trays.

Its all Grudens fault, even the Giants blown coverage.

It's a fumble, it was ruled a fumble and the NFL has since said the call was correct (http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/sports/wp/2014/12/15/first-and-10-after-cowboys-win-packers-lose-a-mad-scramble-for-the-no-1-seed-in-the-nfc-playoffs-nfl-week-15/?tid=pm_sports_pop). It's one thing to not like the rule, it's another to be blame the referees for the failings of RG3 and the poorly managed and coached Redskins.

But it never hit the ground, another player, or really left being carried/batted by his hands.

You just have a way of always proving your side wrong. It's bad when you try to argue in favor of cops or religion, but most instances, like now, you are worth your weight in gold. THANK YOU!

Your post motivated me to post screenshots of the video in question.

I guess groupthink is a thing. I took it for granted, like everyone said, RG3 never got his feet down. Here's relevant screenshots:

He's got it.

He hasn't got it.

He's got it again, dragging the left foot. Ball isn't over the goal line yet.

Still got it, still dragging left foot. Oh look, the ball's past the goal line.

Still got it, dragging his left and then right foot too. He's got the ball, both feet down. That's better control of the ball than guys poking it over the line. At this point, guys usually drop the ball here.

STILL got it, STILL dragging the feet, going out of bounds. (see the pylon?)

At this point, he's no different than any runner poking the ball over the line. He had it, lost it, got it again dragging the left foot. Then took the ball over the line. Touchdown, unless you want to say every time a guy pokes it over the line and drops it should be called back.

I tried to tell you guys. Moss and Garcon and others tried to tell the refs. The call on the field, touchdown, should never have been overturned in the first place!

It is similar to a catch. Once he lost it in midair he has to have control of the ball throughout the process, which includes hitting the ground. Once he hit the ground he lost control of the ball… hence a fumble with no clear recovery.
