As far as Johnson is concerned, he's a complete unknown as far as being a full time starter. We don't know if he's an upgrade over Merriweather cause there's no track record. But I actually like this one as he's still young and can at least play teams.
DG got paid and from what it looks like, did nothing. Just don't like this signing.
I think when you look around in free agency and the draft...very very thin at free safety. again this is a low risk signing...

the issue is whether Goldson is better than Clark. I would rather have D. Hall and a rookie at FS
Goldson is better than Clark, D Hall and every rookie at FS.

D. Hall and a weak FS rookie class? D Hall has had serious season ending injuries the last few years and has never played the position before on a full time basis, over a two time probowl selection and a guy our new GM knows very well? We will still add a rookie or two in the draft and/or undrafted rookies.

stats do not lie- Clark had better stats than Goldson last year
Ryan Clark: Career Stats at NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/player/ryanclark/2504899/careerstats)
if Goldson was good why did the Redskins get him for almost nothing

If Goldson can't play anymore, you probably will have DHall and a rookie at FS. The Skins may not think that Hall will be ready to go at the start of the season or (I realize this is far-fetched) you could be wrong about Goldson and he might have enough left to give us a good year or two.

Hmmmm....going to put on my semi-wild theory hat, although I rarely do.
This free agency for the Redskins has been huge on defense.
Minus an Orakpo replacement anyways.
What does this mean for the draft?
Offense, offense,offense?

While I dont agree it will be offense offense offense...I think McC did look at this roster and say "our defensive personel is flat out garbage". The overwhelming statement this offseason has been strictly focused on getting us better at D.
BPA this draft

Dante Fowler or Vic Beasley will be hard to pass up at #5 if either is still available. The more I watch the highlight reels on these two the more I am convinced about them. I heard Dante Fowler's college coach talk on radio the other day saying Fowler graduated in 3.5 years at Clemson, is a hard working health nut that watches what he eats and does not drink alcohol or smoke. If true, not many college athletes are that mature and serious about their careers at that age.

Is Chris Conte An Upgrade Over Goldson? - Bucs Nation (http://www.bucsnation.com/2015/3/12/8198849/is-chris-conte-an-upgrade-over-goldson)
Well, Goldson according to PFF was god awful last season. In 14 games, Goldson posted a -20.0 score on their nerd metrics. He was the worst player on the Bucs defense. Goldson had zero games in the positive and was a frighteningly bad -14.5 in pass coverage. Only one safety in the entire NFL had a worse rating (Ryan Clark). This wasn't just a bad year for Goldson, he was -14.4 overall in Greg Schiano's last season as well. So in two years and $22 million, the Bucs got themselves a -34.4 performance from Goldson. He leaves the Bucs with 1 INT in two years of service.
Meh. Low cost, but I'm not expecting anything good either.
