Chester releasedHog1 05-27-2015, 11:55 AM Good signs...... Chico23231 05-27-2015, 12:09 PM May want to update the thread title: Redskins release guard Chris Chester and cornerback Tracy Porter - The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2015/05/27/redskins-release-guard-chris-chester-and-cornerback-tracy-porter/?postshare=2701432741046080) told yall Porter was a terrible signing. Schneed10 05-27-2015, 12:14 PM told yall Porter was a terrible signing. He didn't perform and was not an asset, but we're Redskins fans so the term terrible signing should be reserved for things that have destroyed our salary cap. Haynesworth was a terrible signing. Porter was merely an unsuccessful one. Evilgrin 05-27-2015, 12:33 PM To be fair, Chester had a decent season or two. They were also playing in the wrong type of scheme, so decent early on was probably an aberration. over the mountain 05-27-2015, 01:07 PM To be fair, Chester had a decent season or two. At the tail end of his career and contract, he just didnt fit our new scheme and seemed to lose his physical attributes. Guard and running back seem like the easiest positions to find good production with a small cap hit. The ravens just draft guards mid-late, develop into probowl and use them for 4-6 years, then cut/let walk and allow their new mid round guard to take over, develop into probowl .. rinse wash repeat. ben grubbs = marshal yanda = next man up 81forHOF 05-27-2015, 01:46 PM I think both are very sensible moves. It seemed to me that an inordinate amount of pass rush was through the interior of our O-line. Hopefully, as was stated earlier, this means they like what they see from the young bucks. SFREDSKIN 05-27-2015, 02:35 PM Porter should have never been signed, Chester had some alright years but it was time to go. skinsy 05-27-2015, 04:53 PM Clearly Chester was a liability, and his release comes right after his first real work with Callahan at the OTAs. Sure, he was running with the first team, but clearly Callahan's fears from watching video of him were confirmed after just a day or two. As far as Porter goes, now we know what Jay means when someone "missed his connecting flight". Dymping Chester and Porter are honestly just smart moves neither is a long term solution to anything and porter was just a complete waste of money. All he ever did here was get some treatment and get paid handsomely to do so. |
