Sean Taylor's Contract

We better not consider restructuring his deal.......he can't sit out a year. We hold all the leverage. He'll show to mini-camps & training camp but will skip OTA's. This kind of stuff makes me sick...... :vomit-smi If the eagles are not going to look at TO's contract then we should not even be considering this. If we restructure, my head might explode. :smashfrea We let Lav Coles take the money and run.....what now?? Just put Andre Lott back there and play football.

Is there any word on if he is at the OTA's or not. They are madatory, and I havent heard weather or not he was there. Does anyone know?

I'm assuming since we haven't heard, it's a good sign Taylor is not there. Which is very dissappointing. At the sametime, if I were the Redskins, I wouldn't cave in.

i don't think so. but anyways, did you see the vids of the redskins working out at the ota's. they have like four new videos over there. i really liked those.

I agree its easier said than done but it seems like the core group of top redskins talent is mostly million dollar bodies with 10 cent heads. Hopefully the redskins get it done but I'll believe it when I see it.

GreaT POINT HERE TOO... The league is just different from the first time Joe was there. I believe he can still get it done, I just wish we could find those guys that would run through a brick wall for Gibbs again in this decade...

The redskins need to draft more guys like Tom Brady that are willing to restructure or do whatever is needed to help the team win.

Unfortunately the redskins are stuck with a bunch of me, me,me guys that seem more concerned with getting $100 more than the next guy than with winning a championship.

When the redskins focus more on player character/intelligence than athletic ability they will start winning.

How quickly we forget! Does anyone remember Ramsey, Wynn, Jansen (I think) and a few others, who we didn't expect, restructuring to clear up room this offseason?

Is Sean Taylor right? Probably not, but his rookie deal was trash. And it doesn't matter when Portis was drafted, he signed a contract. Which is the biggest deal here, and he has to live up to that contract. I love how you can support Portis holding out but want to demonize Taylor who didn't get a contract reliative to the slot he got picked.

Lots of people restructure and it doesn't mean necessarily that they will lose a dime from the reneg... It just cheats the cap. And OK Taylors deal was trash but he brought it on himself. He played a year, and had a good year. Portis played 2 and had 2 incredible years. 1500+ and 14/15 TDS... After that you have a little more leverage, TAylor has a lot more to prove and I think after year 3 if he is blowing it up the Skins would probably redo his deal to keep him happy.

Anyone ever heard of a rookie acting like this over a contract after one year?

Contract Details
Taylor inked a seven-year deal worth $18 million on July 27, 2004. The contract includes a $7.2 million signing bonus. Sources told the Associated Press that the contract has escalator clauses that can make the deal worth up to $40 million over six years, and the seventh year can be voided.
I'm really not sure how to turn it into a per-year thing like the rest of em, so if anyone wants to help go ahead, but as you can see 18M over 7 years is nothing. Escalators are nice, but not great.

OTA's are not mandatory just minicamp and training camp.....Gibbs STRONGLY URGES players to show for OTA's.......it is the most mandatory-NON mandatory thing there is if you get what I'm saying! Taylor is pissing me off though...........

Looking at the top 10 draft choices' salaries is nice, but when you're comparing different positions it's apples and oranges.

What did Roy Williams get in Dallas for his rookie deal? That would be a more accurate comparison. Also, are the incentives in Taylor's deal realistic? If they are and he can reach all or at least most of them, a $40M deal isn't too shabby.
