Not a big fan of rap and hip hop music unless you talk about Run DMC, Will Smith, or the Beastie Boys, but I agree with you all, hip hop music today is not like it was back in the day. You can probably say that about rock and pop music as well. Actually, I don't know of any rock music that is played on top 40 at all. Even the alternative rock stations in my area play just the "classic" stuff and not much of the new stuff.

LOL! :laughing- I have to admit, I liked The Fresh Prince! But you know, I'm a metal guy so I don't know what true fans of rap/hip hop think of guys like Smith. Seems like everybody universally respects Run DMC though.

I'd say pop/top 40. I definitely wouldn't lump him in with true greats of the game like the Beasties, Tribe, Wu-Tang, etc.
