hutch17 11-15-2016, 02:48 PM Has anyone else seen this. That would be great if Doctson could come off IR even if for one game and if we keep this up a playoff game, to see what he has and help make an informed decision on Garcon and Jackson. What really struck me though was that Jay mentioned Lichtensteiger. Why is even a thought Long is way outplaying him and looks to be the center of the future. Bringing Steiger back and playing him would be a HUGE mistake.
Josh Docston on pace to return this season? (http://was.247sports.com/Bolt/Josh-Docston-on-pace-to-return-this-season-49005247)

In the same press conference yesterday Jay praised Spencer Long saying "you never know when you move a guard to center but we're very pleased, we think he's going to be one of the better centers in the league for a long time."
So he knows he's not going to move Steiger back in for Long. Never did he say he would do that.
On Doctson, for sure. Getting him back would be great. Whatever he can give us this year is gravy, but just getting him some reps in practices and games is what we need in order to know what we've got heading into the offseason. The staff needs to see him in order to know whether we need to go WR shopping.
The way it's shaping up now it's hard to see Garçon getting away regardless of if we see Docston or not.

Yup. D.Jax would have to have one hell of a second half once he returns from injury to even make me consider bringing him back. Even then he's still fighting age and the fact that he's mostly a one trick pony.

He's not leaving, djax is most likely but no chance PG goes

It's pretty clear to see which direction this franchise is going. "Football players" > High priced free agents.
Who would YOU want fighting for an extra yard or making a key block when it's needed?
Garcon over DJax anyday, hands down.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge supporter of what DJax does for our offense and his play making ability. However, I DO feel that we try and force him the ball when conventional play calling wouldn't necessarily call for it. Running a quick pass, West Coast offense doesn't entirely rely on a home run receiver.
Having multiple, reliable mid-range targets such as Garcon, Crowder and Reed, with a red zone weapon (Doctson) seems to be the most sustainable type of offense to build around Cousins.
According to me, sitting on the couch drinking a beer.
Schneed10 11-16-2016, 08:58 AM As he gets older DJax is going to have more and more trouble staying on the field. His biggest asset, the speed, is going to erode and safeties won't have the same reason to respect the deep ball. And I agree with Sevier, Jackson doesn't fit into the McCloughan mold of football player.
But I would like to see us be on the lookout for a burner in the draft. Jackson, when healthy, made a great impact last year. He can't have the same impact going forward, but we should find someone who can. Ross doesn't qualify.
KI Skins Fan 11-16-2016, 10:14 AM It's comforting to know that we can bring up somebody from IR if needed. Kory and Josh are the obvious possibles but I wouldn't be in a hurry to bring up either one of them.
It would be great to bring up Josh later on if he is completely healed. But his injury needs rest and rehab more than anything else, so the medical staff needs to 100% sure he's ready.
On the other hand, if we were to lose Long due to injury, we'll need to bring up Kory, like it or not.
There are at least two very good reasons to wait before bringing up anyone from IR.

They did bring in center John Sullivan when Steiger went on IR. Sullivan remains on the 53.

I forgot about that. So, that probably opens the door for Josh Doctson to return if he can get back to 100% healthy and game-ready before the end of the season.
