Why would he say that? If Cravens wanted to come back and Gruden was cool with it, that would be good enough for me. Is this Allen having another "I'm in charge" moment? Why would it be different now than 2 weeks ago?

This is so messed up.

Like I said, its just heresay now, but I wouldn't put anything past Allen. I'll be following the updates closely. Hopefully this isn't true.

If it is, between that and the idiotic press release after the Cousins negotiations tanked, all doubt is removed that he's a complete idiot. He'd be out of his depth in a parking lot puddle.

Lol, I agree, hopefully it's just fan talk, and not truthful.

I think it makes perfect sense. How are you supposed to expect he doesn't run off again? I mean he did it in college, he went AWOL last year, and then this year he just abandons the team when they aren't in position to replace him?

Besides to the big, "fuck you," that he gave to the team, you can't afford to waste those reps on a liability. What's to stop him from doing it again later this year, and then you don't have anyone who has practiced this defense.

I would have made the same decision, and said you have a spot here, but you have earn it back. In life you are completely in your right to make these kind of decisions to drop obligations if you need to, but these decisions have consequences regardless of intention. Tough lesson to learn, but well worth learning.

Mason Foster went out and made a game winning play after a serious injury. That is the motivation it takes to play football. As was said earlier, if Cravens came back and tried to "just make it through", he could risk serious injury to himself or another teammate. I don't know what the designation does cap wise, but he just needs to get himself right with his personal life and then make the decision on whether to come back or not.

Glad they shut him down. Let his ass sit for a year and hopefully they can get something for him. His days here are probably over. Probably wants to play for the Rams or Chargers.

I think his issues go well beyond simply wanting to play for another team.

Chris Thompson said it was something "way bigger than football". That could mean a thousand things, but given the enigmatic behavior pattern, Matty I think you were possibly onto something when you mentioned the possibility of some kind of behavioral health problem.

Can't even begin to guess what it might be. But if he's hearing voices, or experiencing bi-polar symptoms, you could understand why Thompson would say it's something way bigger than football.

No point in speculating, all the Redskins can do is move on with 53 guys who are committed to winning. They need to set a culture of accountability and putting the team above all else, and that includes shelving until next year someone who can't share that mindset.
