Hall is absolutely useless. He should basically be cut now. If you want to just plug in a body get one that can still move without a walker for fuck sake.
I am not a fan of the coaching turn-style, but Grudens playcalling is amateurish at best. Consistency is good and all but a turd is a turd and will never turn into a bar of gold no matter how long you let it sit around.

This would be a terrible move...I think we are close and I really hope no drastic moves are made outside of firing Bruce Allen, which I would totally be in favor of.

Signing Cousins and keeping him with Jay is the best path forward. After cooling off, I totally agree. You can sign Kirk and continue to expand your core most cost effectively through the draft. If you sign Kirk, you can probably only afford to re-sign one of DJ Swearinger or Zack Brown. For leadership, I think Swearinger would be the right choice there.

I reject the notion that continuity is the best path to success. The Rams under Fisher were garbage to mediocre every season, then in comes McVay and Wade Phillips and they're good immediately. Mike Zimmer takes over the Vikings in 2014 and they go 7-9, and then 11-5 in the second year, and now they're 8-2. Doug Pederson takes over the Eagles last year, they go 7-9, and now in his second year they're 9-1. Andy Reid takes over the Chiefs in 2013, after they went 4-12 the year before. What does he do?
11-5 in his first season. Pete Carroll takes over Seattle in 2010 - they go 7-9 two years in a row and then they land Wilson - no fewer than 10 wins in any season since.

If you've got the QB then a good coach can make a difference immediately. So that's the question - do we have the QB? No doubt in my mind that Cousins is the guy but will he sign here if Gruden is gone?

Get Cousins under contract long term, then find the next coach. That's where I'm at.

Fuck off with this continuity bullshit, it's a farce.

Continuity just for the sake of it is worthless, so you have to ask if Gruden is the main thing holding us back. Personally I don’t believe so.

Deangelo Hall grade from PFF yesterday:

S DeAngelo Hall, 24.6 overall grade

Hall’s day was about as bad as it gets for a safety. He missed three of his eight tackle attempts and allowed all four of his targets to be completed for 67 yards and a touchdown

24.6 ? FFS, why is he on the field?

I said last week, Hall is garbage now. Too many injuries to his lower extremities has taken its toll, and he no longer has his blazing speed nor lateral quickness.

I'd rather play Everett and bring up Fish (Smithson) from the practice squad. Let Hall serve as a player/coach, and he only gets in if Nicholson, Everett, or Fish can't go.

Nicholson can't seem to finish games and has been beat up since our game versus the Chiefs. He's clearly our best free safety.

This is a thoughtful post and it made me think.

I think your statement is accurate, he's not holding us back. But at the same time he's not propelling us forward. In my opinion we have the talent to perform better than we are, especially in certain specific situations like 2-minute.

Coaches capable of winning the Super Bowl don't just get out what their talent dictates. They make it better, they squeeze extra juice out of the lemon, they make chicken salad out of...

After four years I think we know. He's average. He won't hold you back, but he also won't beat anybody he's not supposed to.

I'd like to get the QB under contract, and once we do, take a shot and make a change.

How many of those teams have a Bruce Allen or a Vinny Cerrato in the front office? You can keep rotating coaches like we have for the last 20 years, and never hit a home run with any of them because of the front office.

Even with the miscommunication the refs totally blew it. That is not grounding by the rules. The refs blew that call horribly.

Couldn’t agree more, that’s why I say this team has to be cursed!!
