Schaffer knows nothing about evaluating talent. If anyone became GM, it would be Kyle Smith.

Schaffer's only logical room for movement with the team would be to be Team President if Bruce moved on to another role.

That's actually not true from what I've read in the recent past. Schaffer actually is more of a football guy than people know. Obviously he excels in contract negotiations, but I wouldn't say he knows nothing about evaluating talent.

Perhaps that was an exaggeration to say he knows absolutely nothing, but he's certainly not as strong as Kyle, Alex, or Doug. Doug doesn't seem to want an expanded role (and he shouldn't, given how much of an idiot he comes off as when he talks to the media about anything other than football talent) and no ones knocking on the door for Alex or Schaffer as their GM. Kyle is supposed to be incredibly well respected as a rising talent. Similar to O'Connell, he's someone we can't let get out the door.

And Kyle ran the 2018 draft, not Bruce Allen nor Doug Williams.

That's also not true. There had been some reports (Can't remember if it was Keim or one of the other beat reporters) that mentioned that Schaffer was getting some looks for GM with other teams. He's a very valuable part of the front office.

If Mr. Stuck on Stupid Jay Gruden is going to keep the duties of calling the plays what does promoting O'Connell to OC help? He's just another meaningless offensive assistant with an irrelevant title.

I don't think Jay will keep calling plays, Bruce tossing out another lie as usual
