In 2020 Alex will be 36 years old, his career is most likely done. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he retired at some point in 2019.

I think that is almost certainly what will happen, and I hope it does. If i recall correctly, if he never plays football again due to his injury, we get a $10-12MM salary cap credit due to an insurance policy the team took out.

I hope so, also why would he risk playing again? This team isn't a contender anytime soon

True.....Garcia played in a slightly different NFL when defenders were a little slower and defenses weren't blitzing as much as they do now.

Jason La Canfora is saying now that it is unlikely that Alex Smith ever plays again. I wonder if he has heard some sort of rumbling from a team source / something?
