Warthog 02-25-2020, 06:18 PM Can you list who they are talking too? I agree, with the depth of WR, the Skins should get a nice choice at top of 3rd round of whoever slides.
I think the TE is ok...we should be able to grab someone in the 4th.
Chico,
This is from a recent article in Riggo’s Rag:
Their big interest is:
Dayton TE Adam Trautman
Notre Dame TE Cole Kmet
WR’s. Denzel Mims
Miss St Stephen Guidry
Liberty’s Antonio Gandy-Golden
USC Michael Pittman
OHIO ST. KJ HILL
S Carolina Byran Edwards
By concentrating on TE and WR in the draft after Chase Young it indicates they hope to deal with the
OL, CB, FS,LB in FA. I think they will also go for the top TE in FA. But they might not get the best TE FA since there is so much competition. Since Kyle Smith has done so well in the draft / UDFA for WR it makes real sense to let him do it again.
The Redskins have so many holes it is just impossible to fill everything in FA. WR and TE might have to come from the draft.

Thanks man!
Hey, what’s the common thread among the WR they visited?
They are huge...6’3 and 6’4 guys

Looks like these guys would be guys we are looking at in rounds 3 and 4, except for Guidry, who I'm thinking either round 7 or UDFA.
GridIron26 02-26-2020, 09:28 AM What wrong with Hooper besides his $11 mill/yr price tag? He’s NOT being franchised. I just wonder how many teams are going to be going after him?

For some reason, I'm not 100% sold on Hooper. Based on my amateur scouting (lots of highlights videos, watching games, and reading news about the player), I didn't get impression that Hooper can make a big difference for a team. Although skinsfan did mention about Hooper's high catch rate, which is really good I have to admit.. In my opinion, If we want to spend a good amount of money on a receiver then the player should be a playmaker, or filling in that position will help bring Redskins to playoffs/super bowl. However, we are not even close to being a SB contender yet. Also, I know it's not new for FA players to be overpaid due to limited available options (i.e., Cousins) but since we are not close to being a contender yet, I prefer for us to build the team through drafts and smart signings until Redskins team show that they are close to SB then Redskins should go all in and do everything they can to fill in the needs.
This is not to say that I would be upset if we sign Hooper, I would be satisfied with the move but not excited. Scott Turner did say that TE is vital piece to his offense so it would makes sense if we sign him. I just hope that Redskins will not give Hooper a massive contract, just to outbid other teams. There will be a few teams who will want to sign Hooper so I think there will be a bidding war for Hooper. Hooper is in bottom of the top 10 TEs in NFL and he is not worth the #1 TE money.

Yes, Hooper and Henry are very good TE, but certainly not elite. $11 mill is top TE money but I look at it being only HALF the price of an elite WR FA like Cooper. So perhaps you can pay for Henry at $10-11 mill and then use another $ 10 mill to get a CB or LB FA.
The cap is a zero sum game. Frankly, we just do not have the money to fill our many holes. Another issue is that last year 6 out of our top 8 FA got hurt and couldn’t finish the season. So a big consideration for a player we want badly, such as Henry / Hooper, is how will they survive the seasons we’re paying guaranteed money for?
I’d rather have a good FA playing all season than a great FA who doesn’t make it into any regular season games!

So this is the problem...Scott Turner's offense features the TE, also Haskins really like to throw TE based on last year on the field. Sprinkle and others got a fair amount of targets. You want to setup your new QB up to win? Get him the pieces the offense needs to properly function and the QB feels comfortable throwing too.
Teams that feature the TE in the pass game win. Look at the Patriots for years. Kelce and Kittle in the SB. Why? They get favorable matchups against LB, Safety, etc.
We cant continue to spin wheels taking chances with UDFA, late round picks or other risk ie Hayden Hurst.
Spend the money
I’m all in on Hooper
We desperately need a TE and he’s young and has been very productive
I don’t see why anyone would hesitate on him
Haskins would really benefit by having a quality TE

The leap Lamar Jackson took this yr was due to hie 2 TE's, both are matchup problems for LBs. In today's game, if you don't have a legit Pass catching TE , u will struggle.
Look at what happened to NE post Gronk... Chargers when Henry was out. Etc.

Hooper and Henry are only 25 so while the top 5 TEs make 7.5-10M AAV, those guys are 31.
Hooper and Henry also are excellent blockers and getting a dual TE is big for me. We saw with just a pass catching Jordan Reed, it effects the packages you can run and gives pre-snap tells to the D.
I before said I wouldnt pay more than 10M per for Henry or Hooper ... but I might go to 11 range honestly. Maybe even 12 if it ends up being effectively a 3 year deal with a team friendly out.
TE market is about to be set imo. Its because these 2 guys are young and fit the en vogue model of being dual pass catch/run block.

Highest AAV for a TE is Graham at $10 million. Kelce is second at $9.368. I do think that those numbers are going to be trending up quickly, but $11 or 12 million seems high to me for a Hooper. We really do need a TE, though, so who knows?
